new image widget url

In any new presentations I have created recently under the new interface Image widget by URL doesn't seem to be working.

While it will show in the preview on my computer my various players will not display it and I get the error "The file does not exist or can not be accessed".  The files are publicly accessible and can be manually viewed in a browser from the player machine.

My work around is to currently use the old interface and image widget which seems to work just fine.

Andrew,

I am seeing this fine in preview and on my Displays. Is it possible it is being blocked somehow on your Displays?

Andrew,

Looks like the problem is that you're running an outdated version of Rise Player on the majority of your displays. You're running the Rise Player Chrome Application, which is no longer supported. The good news is that all of your displays that I looked at appear to be Windows units, so you can easily upgrade to the newest version of Rise Player. You can get it at help.risevision.com/user/create-a-display

Please let me know if this resolves your issue.

Blake,

I upgraded one of the windows embedded units and tested prior to placing the comments.  The problem persisted.   In fact I've primarily been testing new designs on that unit because it is in a private space.  The test unit is "Multimedia Test 1" running

Player Version: RisePlayerElectron 2016-07-22-12-00
Viewer Version: 2-00-201609201528
Browser Version: Chromium 52.0.2743.82

Most of my units are actually Chromeboxes and I haven't tried these new presentations on them yet because of the problems I am having with my test unit.

Andrew,

Could you try clearing the browser cache on the Multimedia Test 1 display per this announcement?

Blake,

Cleared the cache per the document, problem still persisted.  Shut the rise application down and restarted problem still persisted.

Andrew,

Can you please email support@risevision.com? I would like to get some more details so I can get a better idea of exactly what's happening.

Andrew, just to summarize. Issue is due to our caching mechanism not handling the server redirect to https when trying to access the file via http. The interim solution for you is to use https in the custom URL field.

We are planning to release a new version of Rise Cache next week which does not have this problem. Just make sure you are using Rise Player and it will auto update once released.

Thanks again for bringing this to our attention.
