I tried using this to setup Google Calendar Widget but no luck.  I created a new google calendar and I can't figure out how to get it to display thru the widget.  Any instructions?

I did follow these steps and I do not see anything show up when I do a preview.

John,

Are you saving your presentation before you preview it?

Yes I save it before I do the preview.  At the preview I see a line and that's it.

John, I have seen the problem before mainly when it was an issue with the calendar settings for public visibility and events not being completed.  Could you double-check everything?  ie sharing settings here:

In your demo you copied the existing calendar ID - where would I get the calendar ID from my google calendar?

oh man i am a dummy - since I did not have an event today, nothing showed. As soon as I set it to show events for the week, it now shows! Since we are a Google Apps school district, this is very helpful - thanks!

I'm getting a complete blank in preview when I use the Google Calendar widget.

My calendar is shared to the world ("Make this calendar public"), and I have copied its Calendar ID from Calendar Details and pasted it into the Rise Vision "Google Calendar Settings" panel.  I save the presentation, run the preview, and nothing displays.  What step am I missing?

I'll eventually want to display a calendar from our campus Apps for Ed. area.  Does that still require specific permissions at the Apps management console?

Hi Thomas,

Can you please check the documentation here and confirm that you have set up the widget correctly? We do offer one on one support assistance through support.risevision.com.

Is it possible you have something on your network blocking access, or are any of your addons enabled in incognito mode? This is not something we have been able to replicate locally.

AdBlockPlus was still enabled, so I turned that off - still no change.  We don't have a firewall that would block any incoming web traffic.

Thomas,

Could you try opening up Chrome Developer Tools, then reloading the preview webpage? Click the network tab and see if you get any red errors mentioning blocks or not found.

If you would like, this is also something we can troubleshoot in a one on one format with our support subscription.

I'm actually already in the developer tools - nothing red.

Just to make this weirder, I tried this presentation in Firefox 37.  After the "Please use Chrome" message goes away, it displays the calendar.  "1:00pm-2:00pm Calendar Trials\n\nFirst even to fix this calendar."

I'm at least a couple of months out from absolutely needing the calendar display, so I'll continue to work through the community forum for now.  Thanks.

That's very strange. Normally you would see an error message in dev tools. The current stable version of Chrome is 42.0.2311.90 (64-bit), could you try that?

That links to documentation for the Spreadsheet widget.  I have checked https://help.risevision.com/user/content/google-calendar-widget

As far as I can tell, I have correctly followed the instructions for getting the calendar ID and pasting it into the Rise Vision widget configuration page; and I have made the calendar public.

The dummy calendar I'm using as a test has the ID 8bn84abqr79h2fr1hj5ard5qjs@group.cale...

Sharing options: "Make this calendar public" is checked.  "Share only my free/busy info" is not.

I can get nothing to display, not even the title of the calendar.

Thomas,

Does your calendar contain content? If it only contains content for a future date, you will need to ensure that the date range in the widget includes dates in the future.

It has events for today.  I have tried setting the widget to both one day and to a week.  No luck.

Thomas,

I have added your calendar to a local presentation and it's appearing with no issues. Please double check that your presentation is correctly set. We are not experiencing any outages with the calendar widget at this time.

I really appreciate you checking on this.  It's clearly something I'm doing wrong then.
