New Device: Please wait while your image is downloaded

I went to add three new Chromeboxes (yeah I know ... not supported. But they're the last units to deploy that were already purchased earlier last year. And the other CBoxes have been working okay.)

Anyway,  I'm planning just one simple image folder slideshow presentation (content from RV storage) to put on them for a special one time  event  this Friday afternoon.

While all three of them were added as devices easily, added to schedules, only 2 of them immediately downloaded the content and began playing the slideshow content. The third device did not. It just hangs on a white screen that says "Please wait until your image is downloaded". But it never finishes, even after restarting the player, the device, etc. I've also tried adding it with a new Display ID in place of the previous one ...

Can someone explain how two new setup devices can work well, and the other not at all? It's the same presentation, same unit type, same network, same content from RV storage ...

Thanks,
Robert

It could be faulty device, software that did not install properly, network issues with that particular player. Nobody can tell for sure without accessing your device. Try connecting it to a local network with the Ethernet cable.

Are all the devices on the same network? Is it possible there are different security rules being applied to that one device that are not there on the others?

Since I have limited space in my office, there were all setup using the very same HDMI, ethernet, and power cables even, and all were plugged into the same data port and power outlet. No differences.

I left the troubled Chromebox on all last night to see what it did. When I arrived at work this morning, both the TV as well as the Chromebox had shut down by themselves ...

I restarted both and ... that particular Chromebox is now loading and running the presentation normally. Weird.

I still don't trust that unit, so I'm not deploying it. As least not yet.

Thanks,
Robert

Robert,

Is the Chromebox managed? I wonder if it is going to sleep. Could an addon like this help: https://greenido.wordpress.com/2012/12/30/how-to-prevent-your-chromebook-from-going-to-sleep/?
