I need to know if anyone has any metrics concerning the bandwidth load when using the Vimeo/Youtube widget when compared with the video player widget and movie files in Rise Storage.

In other words, does the Vimeo/Youtube widget pull the videos from the sites for each view or are the videos cached in the Rise player?

Vimeo and Youtube apis dont allow caching to the device. They do save some parts of the video to the device but its downloaded almost everytime in compressed format. Also saving the video to the device is acaully hard to do or keep up. The reason is they tend to block it or change the way there server responds to the downloads. We did have a youtube caching widget but it was never reliable so we went with a no caching option. If your worried about bandwidth then its best to use the video widget as it will cache the video to the device.
