Just wanted to let everyone know that there is an update to the amazon fire tv devices that will be coming through starting tomorrow. Some of the fixes will include the following.

Fixed an issue where multiple instances of the app will appear.
Fixed an issue with restart and reboot from the Rise platform. This cause a lot of crashing.
Added a Dialog to allow 10 seconds of load time between start of app and the loading of webview. Helps keeps the app from crashing when the device restarts.
Other little fixes to help stability.

Hopefully this works better for everyone.

Thanks.

I actually had no idea that there was an App for FireSticks - This is a gamechanger for us because we purchased Pi's for Rise. A fire-stick is a great way to show some clients the flexibility!

Hi William,

Just a heads up.  The New Firestick that was released last week is crashing when my presentation wants to use RV's Free video gadget.  I tried 2 formats:  webm and mp4.  Am i correct in assuming that if i use your gadget that the crash will not happen?

Use the android video widget. It's made specifically for android devices. The reason is it's pure html5 and not a library that uses html5 player. I haven't tested the newer devices but let me know how it goes. Thanks

Hi William,

It seems that both your video widget and rise's have the same issue.  It will play a small mpg/mp4/mov/webm file - but it crashes when switching to another video.  (this is on the new firestick)  If i just have 1 video looping - it is fine.  Anything more and it goes back to the home screen.  It also crashes if i re-publish the presentation!

For reference, here is the presentation:  ?type=presentation&id=583952f3-cba0-4093-8eb4-20f736bd8009

just add: "preview.risevision.com/Viewer.html" in front of it to play.

Thanks

What OS version is on the new fire stick? I want to compare the old with the new. If the same then i know its probably with the OS because we have issues with the regular fire stick with video. We know its not an app or widget issue because other devices and the fire box works without issue. We think its with the version of webview that the devices carrys which will require amazon to update. This last update was on the old sticks had all kinds of video issues with webview so hopefully they fix it soon.

Hmm...I can't check this right now as i have the new firestick deployed for an emergency solution.  (it's only showing the 1 presentation with minimal video).  Once i grab it, i can check it.  It might be a good idea if you just grab one from amazon as i think there might be a couple more issues that come up and the upgraded hardware might make it a viable solution now.
