Multi-column directory

I’m looking to use the directory gadget and have it display spreadsheet data across 3 columns. The spreadsheet will have about 100 rows in 2 columns (name and suite) format. I’m looking to show this spreadsheet in three column layout (6 columns), but using one navigation to control all the columns.

I’m assuming this can be done by modifying the CCS and XML files?  Thanks

Zalman,

Have you considered using our Spreadsheet Widget with custom layouts? Documentation on custom layouts can be found here.

Thanks, But I don't see the spreadsheet gadget having the option to include the navigation bar. Nav is key.

Zalman,

The only way we can think of doing something like this would be to use multiple instances of the directory gadget, each instance would point to a separate area in the spreadsheet.

Example: 1st column contains entries A through J, next column takes care of K - P, and the rest go in the last column.

In the Gadget, just set the Spreadsheet to a specific range, rather than use the entire sheet.

By multiple instances you mean adding 3 individual gadgets ? If that's the case, each one would have it's own navigation, which would defeat the purpose.

Zalman,

Perhaps we are not on the same page here. I'm going to need you to clarify exactly what you are trying to accomplish with the directory gadget. Can you provide an example of the spreadsheet you want to use, along with what you want to do with the directory?

Thanks!

Zalman,

I have shared this thread with one of our designers. His response is that the current directory gadget is not built to function in this manner, so modifying the .xml will not make a difference. We do have documentation here which might point you in the direction of another solution.
