I came in this morning and both our menu boards in the cafe were not playing the videos with the error "Sorry there was a problem playing the video from Storage"

Working fine yesterday and the machines are restarted every night at 3am.

Same problems here and I've been struggling to get this working. I'm able to play mp4 video's using just the video link but webm videos through the video widget are causing me grief.

Hi Jimmuk,
Can you please let us know the CID of the company and also the name of the presentation? We will need to have a closer look at the content.  Thanks!

DTBR4B5VAFMY, ae2a898b-dbc9-4a25-9097-ca045f73f319. I actually have 2 OU's for our managed Chroemboxes, one running the current player and one running the new test one and both are having the issue. It is also happening on image folder widget.

I restarted the players and the videos were working again, but I just went by and they are stopped again, so sometime in the past hour they stopped again.

Hi guys,

I'm currently looking into this issue. I'll need to be able to replicate this locally to make some headway. I'll update as I get more information.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Sorry, there was a problem playing the video from Storage..

As soon as the video finish playing we're getting this message:
"Sorry, there was a problem playing the video from Storage".
The Storage trial have 17 days left yet.
Any troubleshooting?
Thanks!

Hi Israel,

We're currently looking into this issue. Can you please provide me with a link to preview the presentation you're having a problem with?

All,

Would you be able to provide me some more information on your specific setups?

  • A preview to the presentation that is not working.
  • The OS you are using.
  • The version of Rise Player (Rise Windows/Linux Player, or the Rise Player Chrome App)
  • If it is a video or an image causing the issue.

Windows 7 on ASUS UN42
RisePlayerPackagedApp 15.10.7.9312

For both. It's video this week.

I've gone ahead and moved my videos off RiseStorage onto a local NAS.

Glen,

With locally hosted content, are you seeing the error message at all?

We're also having this issue.
Presentation preview: http://preview.risevision.com/Viewer.html?type=presentation&id=96ad4be9-4644-4047-a0e2-6bd30c0e5...
OS: CrOS 45.0.2454.98
Player: Rise Player 15.10.7.9312 (chrome app)
Video is the issue. I just played it in preview on my desktop but the player which runs this content is still showing an error message.

Our Chromeboxes are managed and locked into Single App Kiosk mode.

All,

This appears to be only an issue with the Rise Player Chrome Application. We're currently working through this issue, but in the meantime you may wish to install the Rise Windows or Rise Linux Player instead. You can get instructions on installing the Rise Player here.

And what about login credentials?  How did you get the system to login to the diskstation?

Sorry, not Shared Folder, I used Web Services.

It's a public link, so no credentials are required.

Awesome.  I want to avoid exposing video links publicly to the internet but it looks like you kept your diskstation local only?

Sorry, one last question: do you need to link to an individual file or can you link to a folder of files?

You can ONLY link to folders with RiseVision Storage. They do not support any external folders.

I've transfered a few critical media assets over to our Amazon S3 bucket that's using CloudFront for edge distribution. On my test setup that seems to be solving the issue so it looks like we'll use that for now until the Storage system returns to reliability with the Chrome App Player on our Chromeboxes.

Just FYI, we will be pushing a fix for this tomorrow in the morning! I'll give a recap and update when it's released.

Thanks for the heads up everyone!

Will this be a fix to the Chrome App player or the HTML5 video widget?

Robert,

It's a fix for the Video Widget.

All,

This fix has been released, however, we are still seeing an issue within the Rise Player Chrome App that we are looking to correct.

For now, most presentations with videos should be able to display the Video Widget. In some presentations, mostly with many large videos, you still may experience some issues.
