We have several Minix X8-H's we are using with My Rise Player, newest on the Play Store.  We can play the videos in webm format and the preview's look good.  But when we publish them to the devices, the video's have almost a ghost image on them, and there is a green line down the left side of the video

Hi Pi,

I will alert the developer of My Rise Player to your issue. This may also be something that Minix would be able to assist you with.

Webm HD format might be the issue here. You might be better off with mp4 in this situation. Some devices do better with mp4 while others do better with webm. Manufactures for mini pcs do a lot with video codecs and not all are the same, so its best to try mp4 format and see if that fixes the issue.

Also this is amlogic device and there codecs have been bad over the yrs. They promised to fix them and have made some headway but its still iffy in terms of what can be played. I would definitely try mp4.

So I tried multiple videos in MP4 format and that didn't work.  It wouldn't even show video, just black.

How large are the videos. You might have to give it time to load into cache as well before playing. Also check the manufactor and see if there is a firmware update to the device. I know they have been doing some firmware updates to amlogic devices so you might find a newer update to the firmware that might fix the issue. There is also a test version of the app on the play store. It could be there webview so you might try that since it has its own webview and see if that works. Thanks
