Managing videos in your digital signage just got easier!

A new version of the Video Widget has just been released that now incorporates all of the features of the Video Folder Widget.

From this one widget you can easily show folders of videos from Rise Storage one after the other, or simply play a single video from any server.

If you use Rise Storage folders it is simple to manage what content shows where by adding or deleting video files from a directory. Every time you upload a new file or delete an old one your displays are updated to show your latest video content. No need to find Presentations, select Placeholders and manually change Playlists. Managing video content is as simple as adding or removing video files from a folder.

Don't have a Rise Storage account? Check out the free 30 day trial. Don't want to use Rise Storage? No problem! You can show single videos from a 3rd party server for absolutely free.

We have also made a few improvements to make the user interface more intuitive, such as showing the file name from Storage rather than URL and you can now quickly preview your selected file to make sure you have the right one.

With this release, the Video Folder Widget will be deprecated and removed from the Store. Please use the updated Video Widget instead.

As always, let us know your thoughts in the community (http://community.risevision.com).

Enjoy!

Great news Alan - sounds good. One quick question though; does this widget cache videos locally, or does it continually stream them?

Videos are cached locally. Thanks!

Great widget.
Suggestion for a next release : add also the video preview for custom URL (just popup a new windows with the URL of the video).
Thanks to the Rise team.

My videos for the custom URL are no longer playing, I noticed it this afternoon and thought I would check here for first and saw the plugin had been updated. I am using a new Amazon Fire Box. The videos do not appear to play in the preview on my laptop either using Chrome. They are MP4 format and were playing fine yesterday so can only assume something broke in the update.

Hi Robert, what you are seeing is likely a result of a failed cross-origin origin request from the Video Widget to the video on your server. I don't think you are going to see this issue if you run your Presentation on Rise Player, but this will occur in Preview.

We are working on a fix for this now and will post an update on the topic here if you'd like to follow.
