hello
I was thinking that I can embed videos from local folder c:/user/videos/Biddeford. mp4

do think I can do that by using the video widget?

if not, can I upload to my website server and then embedded with the video widget? in this case will the player cache the video so it will not use lots of Internet connection

I have read this article but not sure if I use my own server will the video be cache ?

I'm having some slowness as I'm using the YouTube embed

please help

as I read in the link: http://blog.risevision.com/formatting-images-and-video-for-digital-signage/

If you have video for your Presentation stored in the Rise Vision Media Library, they will download to your local display and be saved to play in the designated Presentation. Once downloaded, they will continue to play if the Internet drops out. This also cuts down on bandwidth usage because once downloaded, they don’t take up that precious bandwidth your browser needs to operate the rest of the Presentation.

So what about if I'm hosting the video in my own site?

Please help.

Khalid,

You can certainly use a video in your own repo, or on the Display itself.

When you are entering it into the Video Widget, select the "Custom URL" option, and enter the URL to the video. I would recommend testing that the video works in a separate browser window or in a preview to ensure that it works as expected.

Thanks!

Hi Rob,
Is it possible if the player is set as a web server and the video widget play from its internal hd and use external url link ? Any idea anyone has successfully done it?

Hi there,

I've never tested that successfully, however, if I recall correctly, some users have set up separate devices as a web server and have stored their videos on there. As long as the URL is accessible to the Display, it should not have a problem playing that file.

However we have never tested running a webserver on the device itself.
