Loading a Sharepoint site through a Custom URL

Hello,

I have a SharePoint internal site that I'd like to load into a custom URL placeholder. However when I do so, the placeholder remains blank.

Let's say the URL I'm trying to load is http://cetwebapp/webapp/SitePages/Page1.aspx.

It doesn't load - placeholder is blank in the preview and on the display. If I change the server name to the actual server name (http://SPserver/webapp/SitePages/Page1.aspx), my server produces an error page, Page not found, as expected, since the /webapp/ doesn't exist on SPserver, it exists on cetwebapp. That error page however loads into the custom URL placeholder.

If I use a "proper" URL, such as http://cetwebapp.domain.com/webapp/SitePages/Page1.aspx, the URL placeholder remains blank.

Both the http://cetwebapp/webapp/SitePages/Page1.aspx and http://cetwebapp.domain.com/webapp/SitePages/Page1.aspx load fine in the Chrome app of the Chromebox.

Would you know what might cause the SharePoint site to not load?

Thank you

CoExTec,

Thanks for your question. Is this sharepoint website accessible outside of your network?

Dave, that's a good point. I created a new placeholder, it received the name of ph3, but I don't see it in the list of elements: http://i.imgur.com/pZwV7GK.png

Nothing is rendered: http://i.imgur.com/iMp6ASm.png

I've also tried to add the page in an iframe using the HTML placeholder, and the iframe border renders but nothing inside of it - it is transparent.

Hi Blake,

Please close this ticket. The problem was that Sharepoint doesn't allow its sites to be displayed in iframes. I've fixed that. Thanks

How did you fix the iframe issue?

Hi Journey Church,
iFrames need to be enabled for a website to show it in the Web Page Widget. To allow iframes in Sharepoint this seems to be a setting within that content management system. I would recommend looking into their help resources such as this article link to from Microsoft's help page.

If anyone has other resources to share, feel free to comment through!

Thanks

Hannah
