Items replicating in placeholders

I have been using RiseVision for about 1 month and recently, probably around 1 week ago items are self replicating into placeholders. For instance I have a placeholder that is linked to logo jpeg. This was placed into the placeholder once, but is now in there just over 30 times, which I'm guessing might be the maximum. This is not an isolated incident I now have multiple placeholders self replicating items inside them from twitter widgets, to clocks and jpegs? It doesn't seem to affect the presentation too much, although I am noticing reloading / flickering on the clock widget which I think is down to this replication.

Hi Andy,

Could you please tell me the name of your company in Rise Vision and the name of the presentation. I'll take a look at it and try to figure out what may be happening. Also are you using our new Beta Editor or our old editor?

Thanks,
Shea

Hi Shea,

I've replied to Hannah. This is appearing the in the old editor, although I have been into the new editor upon launch, and whilst liking what I see, finding it lacking some capabilities and working back in the old editor in the last few days.

Cheers,
Andy

Andy,
I had a look at one of the presentations "HKA TEMPLATE v3" and it looks like some of the Placeholders (footer_text, the Twitter which is a HTML item, the World Clock widget, and the title based on the HTML item) has multiple instances of the text widget which are the same copy.

We would like to obtain further information.  On top of the questions above:

1. Are you able to send through a description of what has been done (from what you recall)? We are looking at replicating the problem users have with the presentation
2. Has this been built based from a template, straight in RVA or was it based on code supplied by another provider?
3. What browser are you on, and if so are you facing any crashes in this browser?  Do you have extensions in this browser?

Thanks,
Hannah

Hi Hannah,

The presentation "HKA TEMPLATE v3" was created today by copying another 'template' that I have created by scratch initially. None of the code has been provided by a different provider everything has been added by me directly from a clean presentation.

I have used Chrome Version 46.0.2490.80 on a Mac to create the HKA template in the last few days, although last week used Safari as for some reason right click on Chrome did not work in Rise, but this has now been fixed and I can right click in Chrome. No crashes in the browser have been noted.

The steps in the last few weeks:
Create a template, tweak then make a copy as versions 1, tweak again then make another copy, then tweak again until I've got to the version 3, which is probably around 7 or 8 copies from where I started. Most of the other components have been there from the start with just the sizing and placement being tweaked slightly.

I have been using your new UI since it came out and I only noticed this after I went in to the new UI found I couldn't add extra items into the placeholder like I expected then went back into the original UI and then found the issue. Not something I have seen before your launch of the new UI and I have been in the templates multiple times a day as I'm getting our new screens up and running in the last 3 weeks, this is our launch period. However there is no correlation between opening a presentation in the new UI and then in the old one finding the extra items in the placeholders.

Cheers,
Andy

Andy
Thanks that's useful.  I had a look through the rest of the presentations and noticed duplicates in the recent 4 templates.
HKA TEMPLATE 2 zones v1 (last modified Oct 26) onwards there were no duplicates.  Did you recall entering the new UI on/before this date?

Andy,
Thanks for taking the time to provide the information.  We've now lodged a bug within the RVA for this.

For the meantime, please paste the current html and save the presentation in the new Editor and then open the saved presentation in RVA or continue working within Editor.   These items should not be duplicated.  If there is enough duplication of the placeholders it may lead to further problems with the presentation, including Chrome crashing.

If you are still noticing duplication following the above, let us know.

Andy,
Thanks for letting us know about issue of items replicating in the placeholders.  We have deployed a new version of the RVA app which fixes this.  If you encounter any further issues, please let us know.

Thanks
