Items play out of order

We seem to have this issue not matter what we are doing.  There is something in this system that keeps items from playing out of order.  The count is getting out of control.  Right now we have an embedded presentation playing at a school.  The embedded presentation has just 4 pngs over a jpg background.  They are for a basketball schedule.  They are in order...the 9th, the 11th the 16th and the 18th.  However, once this is embedded in the larger presentation the dates (png files) play out of order.  It shows the 11th, the 16th, the 18th then the 9th.  We tried using the RSS feed player to show trivia.  Logically....an RSS feed reader would play the newest first.  However sometimes the first items gets skipped altogether, then plays last or it plays for about 2 seconds no matter what the time setting is.  Is there any hope of these these ever getting fixed?  They seem to be REALLY basic items that everyone would want, yet they have been this way for a VERY long time.  As far as I can tell the RSS feed reader has been that way for over a year.

tony,

Matthew Fisher spent several days working through this a couple of months ago. It was determined at that time, that this is not a defect, but a user configuration issue. You can see that thread here, Matthew's conclusion is the final response.

I would be curious to see if he could use our configuration, find the fault in it OR get it to work properly.  After working with that set of instructions, our guy working on this was still having the same issue.  In fact to make it simple to the outsider he simply made RSS posts of 1,2,3,4,5,6.  They do not play in that order...that's an issue.

tony,

This was tested using your content. I'll have Matthew follow up with you on Monday.

Thanks.

Thank you, because it is without a doubt not working.

Tony,

Can you give me a link to the RSS feed you have been using and to the presentation (if you still have one that makes use of the RSS instead of the embedded presentations containing images)?

Thanks,

Matthew

tony,

I think I found the issue. On the presentation that is embedded, you have a blank text item set to display for 1 second. On that text item, I unselected all displays. This allows me to continue to select Play Until Done on the RSS Gadget.

Since doing that, I haven't seen the RSS feed play out of order. Can you double check and let me know?

Thanks.

I checked.  It still does a variation of what it has always done, which is, it doesn't play out of order, but plays erratically.  Now that I watch it, I seem to recall that is why Daniel had the 1 second item tacked on front.  It usually skips item #1 or plays it for a fraction of a second.  Right now it is simply skipping it. In the past, it has tacked it on the end.  If the presentation you are watching does not play gaming trivia from 1 through 6 evenly spaced out, it is not playing correctly.  That feed starts with #1.  We went from actual trivia to numbers to make issues easier to catch.

tony,

Still looking into this. it doesn't have to do with the RSS Gadget, but rather scheduling. I'll get back to you when I have more information on a workaround.
