Looking to have our own info put in a ticker form.
Is this possible?
Sorry I am new to this.

Hi Tex,

We don't have any Widgets that support horizontal scroll at this time. This used to be possible with the <marquee> tag, but this has been deprecated by most browsers and no longer works.

Unfortunately there is no simple way to create horizontally scrolling text. Your best option may be to create a video with scrolling text and display it with the Video Widget.

Thanks Blake

I could agree with you on Video, but to do the editing it would be a pain. I am in a school and the scrolling ticker is asked for quite often. Because of so many things on changing data.
Example:
Running a mock election and each hour changing the totals.  I know it can be done other ways, but the teachers were asking for a ticker form.

Thanks

Tex,

It's one of our more requested features. Unfortunately it's really hard to do right. I'll change this post to an idea. Maybe it will get some traction and it will be something we look at in the future!

Tex,

You can use the Text Scroller Gadget, but that means you need to edit all your Presentations in the classic editor: http://rva.risevision.com, which is not as user friendly as the new Editor at https://apps.risevision.com.

Just a suggestion that you may want to try out :)

Thanks!

Would it be possible to mark those non-widgets as Classic Editor only?

I'm going to start teaching several folks how to create presentations, and I'd like to focus on the 'new' editor and avoid the 'old' editor as much as possible, despite the missing functionality some of the old 'gadgets' used to give us.

Thanks.

Very interesting idea Derek! Currently when you add the Text Scroller Gadget (or any other Gadget) in the new Editor, it will show this once you add it:

Do you think it still needs that additional notification on the Content page itself for that Gadget?

Thanks!

I like to keep all my students 'reading from the same textbook', and using the new editor instead of the Classic editor is one of the ways I plan to standardize things. I deal with a wide range of very smart folks who will run with the highly useful gadgets available only in the Classic editor once they find them and will not want to stop using them. If you don't want to indicate which content is Classic-only in the individual thumbnails, perhaps segregating them all at the bottom in a 'Classic Editor only" section would be appropriate.

Derek,

Seeing as how the Text Scroller Gadget is the last remaining Gadget, I think our focus will be to get that functionality added to the Text Widget, and we plan to add that functionality in the future.

Thanks!

Perfect. Add scrolling (up, down, left & right) and you're golden. :-)
