Is the eventual goal to get rid of most of the 'basic' no-cost widgets?

I know your company needs to make money, and since your product has been mostly free, I don't blame you. Using the widget model to provide capital is an excellent way to help the RV company grow and keep it viable.

But as a community college staff member beholden to strict and often odd purchasing rules, I am not allowed to purchase any non-tangible items for the college. This means software, and therefore widgets. Any software purchases considered must be put into a chain of supervisor approvals, and if they get that far, then go to the purchasing department for further 'rounds.'

In other words, if RV decides to deprecate a 'basic' widget in favor of a 'premium' one, even if the purchase of the new widget is approved, it could take weeks to wrap up the process. Meanwhile our signage is either limited or down until then.

I have enjoyed the challenge of using RV and installing about 30 signage displays around 4 of our campuses. But to continue the digital signage service these campuses have come to expect, we really need to have some advanced notice if RV is planning on deprecating some of the 'base' widgets in lieu of only a 'premium' widget, in order that we can have enough time to make allowances before our digital signage is adversely affected.

Hi Robert, maybe you could expand on what your definition of "basic" is, but in general, you will always have access to the following Widgets and we will always make them available for free - Video, Image, Google Spreadsheet, Google Calendar, RSS and Text.

If we come into a situation where we need to deprecate or change how we provide a Widget to you that is currently available in the Store, we will post a notice right here in the Community, as well as send out an update via our blog at blog.risevision.com. And we will provide you with at least 60 days notice. If you haven't already, please subscribe to one of the these to ensure email notice is sent to you when announcements are made.

Hope that helps. Thanks!
