Installing on Ubuntu 14.04, cannot connect to internet

The player came with Rise on it, I did not have to download it. Right away it runs the Rise Player Installation. About 3/4 of the way through it gets stuck, eventually a message pops up saying there is no connection to the internet. It is connected to the internet as I am accessing the internet via a web browser.

I have looked in the RVplayer folder, but there is no rvplayer. I have tried downloading it from the Rise website, but I cannot figure out how to get that to install either.

Hi Dave,
Please check the list of resources under Install Rise Player to see if there are any blocks or filters in your network that is preventing the install. Also, are you currently under a proxy network?

Edit: With installing the new Rise Vision Player for Ubuntu from the website, let me know if you need further help on following the install instructions. There is a chance that the installer that came with it will need to be reinstalled again due to this issue

Thanks!

Yes, I do need further help with the install instructions. I am not familiar with Linux, I tried installing it, but got nowhere.

Hi Dave,

Make sure that there are no previous instances of rvplayer installed
- Search for the folder rvplayer and delete that folder
- If you have Chrome on Linux, open Chrome, go to chrome://apps then uninstall Rise Player

To install the new Rise Player

Open Terminal:

wget http://install-versions.risevision.com/installer-lnx-32.sh
That will install the .sh (if you know that you are on a x32 OS, replace 64 with 32)

ls
Verify that installer-lnx-64.sh is in the correct folder that you are on. You should see the filename in Terminal.

chmod +x ./installer-lnx-64.sh
Enter
./installer-lnx-64.sh
Enter

It will ask for the admin/sudo password.

See http://g.recordit.co/J0cGmoyu6e.gif

Then it will take you to the main Rise Player Installation window and go through the install. On the first install, it will go through a series of network checks of the resources listed here

If you see any unknown error messages, look for the rvplayer folder and then there are two files - installer-detail.log and installer-events.log - if you can send that to support@risevision.com and we can take a look at it further.

Any questions let us know

I got it, thanks. The issue I was having was getting the terminal to point to the folder that had the installer. Everything is working as expected now. Thank you.
