Just upgraded a display to windows 10, tried to install the new player and am getting this error.

Installation process could not be completed!
We have detected a previous installation of Rise Chrome App Player. You need to uninstall it before proceeding with this installation.
To uninstall it:
  • open chrome://apps in Chrome
  • drag "Rise Player" to the bottom right
  • a box that says "Remove from Chrome" will appear
  • drop "Rise Player" into that box
I however do not have the chrome app installed. Nothing is there when I look.

Hi Tri-C Metro,

Do you have the Chrome App Launcher on your machine? The instructions that we have details it for the Chrome browser only but the Chrome App Launcher can also show if Rise Player is installed.

Thanks,

Hannah

Hi Hannah,

I had neither of those installed, I'm quite sure of it. I ended up uninstalling chrome and going through the windows registry to remove any lingering Google files and folders. There seemed to be something in there still that prevented the install from completing because it went through fine after this.

Tri-Metro, most likely you have Chrome browser installed on the same machine too. In Chrome you have your account logged-in and synchronized. If this is the case, while synchronizing, you (unwillingly) installed Chrome App too (one from Chrome App store - the old unsupported RV App). You are not the first and not the last. I have been there too. All this App removing manual does not really work... something, somewhere stays that prevents the new app from installing. Basically I recommend re-installing your Windows (yup... it will take about the same time as trying to clean up you Windows anyway), and next time you put Chrome browser in there, make sure you do not synchronize anything (better do not even install Chrome browser). Also make sure you remove the old app from your Google Apps from your account, first.

I got it figured out eventually. I uninstalled chrome and tried, same result. 100% sure nothing was synchronized, the app wasn't in my Google Apps.  Eventually I went through and removed all Google files from the windows registry and then it finally went through.

Is there no real solution for this? Why is there not an option to uninstall or overwrite previous files when installing the new one?

RV App on Chrome is not supported anymore and all the app development has been stopped a long time now. The supported RV Apps CAN be uninstalled, they have this option.
