What we did last week:

  • Rise Player communication improvements are continuing. Prototyping of RethinkDB and stress testing it is complete and the same is now being done with Primus + NodeJS. We hope to have our platform selected this week.

  • A few more Rise Player reliability improvements were released.

  • All of the improvements to make it easier for new users to get started with Schedules and setting up a Display are now deployed. We are spending the next week closing open defects, cleaning up some technical debt, and working on UX improvements to make it easier to add images and videos to Presentations.

  • Zero defects are getting closer! Down from 9 to 7 open defects across all of our 60 active projects on GitHub.

  • Legacy Rise Vision Players will no longer be supported as of September 1. For anyone on an older version, we recommend upgrading before that time. Read more about this here.

  • More updates to the new Spreadsheet Widget available as an early preview.

  • More design work for an improved Rise Cache.

  • We are continuing to work on the design of our new website, keep an eye out for a preview.

Many weeks ago there was a mention of alternative authentication methods. I'm curious if there's been any more talk of it internally? We'd really love some way to assign our own usernames (rather than users needing a google account). As always, thanks for all the hard work. :)

Wendi, there has indeed been discussion of it, but nothing outside of that. We will certainly let everyone know if this changes as we know how big a deal that is for a lot of people.
