What we did last week:
  • Our new RSS Widget is no longer in early preview and has officially replaced the RSS Gadget!

  • Our latest release of the Web Page Widget is now available. Check out this conversation for a quick overview of improvements.

  • Just completed a 3 month project to implement continuous delivery with full, automated test coverage for our Rise Player development. Our goal is to achieve 99.9% reliability. This is a major step towards that.

  • We are learning how to implement Google Ventures SPRINTS with our Scrum (did you know that 17 of our 27 Risers are certified scrum masters!), Lean Startup, Jobs To Be Done and Design Thinking processes to amp up our ability to provide more meaningful solutions. This is really exciting stuff.

  • We have finalized our new Rise Player User Interface and it is now in the queue to be implemented. Check out the new interface for entering your Display or Claim ID, and starting the Rise Player after a successful install.

  • We have started design reviews to achieve real-time communication with our Rise Players. We are looking at technology like Socket IO, and Primus.

  • Our documentation sucks. We know it and we have spent the last couple of weeks working to make it better. Look for some improvements soon.

  • We have merged Storage into our Apps to make it faster and more tightly integrated with our Editor.  Along the way we’ve killed a lot of bugs, and we have increased our automated test coverage to make sure that we don’t inadvertently cause more defects.

What we have planned this week:
  • ZERO Defects. Yup, that’s right. We want zero defects. We have 60 active projects on GitHub and across all of those projects we only have 25 open defects left. We want to make another significant dent in this list this week.

  • We’re starting work on an updated Google Spreadsheet Widget that will be easier to use, and provide you with more control over the data formatting.

  • Chrome 50 has been released and we will testing its compatibility with our core content prior to release. Check out our testing wall in Kansas City!

  • We're testing the next release of Rise Player that leverages Electron’s built in Chromium for rendering Content, and will allow us to eliminate those pesky Chrome out-of-date messages. As per the previously released deprecation notice, Flash is no longer supported, so if you’re still using Flash in your digital signage, we strongly recommend you convert it to HTML.

Exciting stuff! I've had a great experience with Socket.IO in the past so I'm personally looking forward to seeing how you use Socket.IO and Primus.

Keep up the good work!

I agree - I am working on a project now that involves socket.io and I am interested in developments in this area.
