Image Widget Photo Orientation

Hi there,

I am using the image widget to create a photo slideshow within one of my presentations. I marked the "Scale to Fit" option in order to have the photos fit the screen, which works great with landscape photos. The portrait (vertical) photos however, are being rotated. I'm assuming in order to fit the screen.

Is there any way to stop that from happening? I realize the portrait photos won't be as big as the landscape photos on the screen, but I don't want them to be in the wrong orientation.

That's quite strange. Any chance you can share a link to the preview of your Presentation, or possibly to one of the images that it is rotating?

I just tried this with a portrait image, and everything is showing as expected for me.

Thanks!

I am seeing this same thing on our display, the preview link is http://preview.risevision.com/Viewer.html?type=presentation&id=88f8ef7e-c5c3-4b94-a216-1dbfa05df... and the images are stored in our rise storage account.  The thumbnails in the storage app are correct, it isn't until it comes up on the display that it is rotated.  I suppose I could resize all of the photos so that they are smaller than the box on the display, my goal is to simplify this as much as possible so that our teachers can upload the photos into their folders.  Having to resize everything will not be easier.  The images I am testing with are in our Publications folder, names are img_2059.jpg, img_9374.jpg, img_6832.jpg, img_9438 and img_9462.jpg.

John,

Check out this article, this is what helped us solve this issue before: http://www.howtogeek.com/254830/why-your-photos-dont-always-appear-correctly-rotated/

Let us know how you make out!

Yep, fixed it from what I have tested so far.  Should be interesting trying to educate our staff on what to look for.  The fix was simple enough though, thank you.

We are having this same thing happen.  The pictures show up correctly in the preview but when they play on the big screen they are rotated incorrectly.  Is there any plans for the player to be able to read this correctly?
