Greetings,
I am having issues with
"Install the common-i18n using bower $ bower install git://github.com/Rise-Vision/common-i18n --save"

using node.js command prompt and also when using WebStorm.

The error:

bower common-i18n#*         not-cached git://github.com/Rise-Vision/common-i18n.git#*bower common-i18n#*            resolve git://github.com/Rise-Vision/common-i18n.git#*
bower common-i18n#*            ECMDERR Failed to execute "git ls-remote --tags --heads git://github.com/Rise-Vision/common-i18n.git", exit code of #128 fatal: unable to connect to githu
b.com: github.com[0: 192.30.252.130]: errno=No error

Additional error details:
fatal: unable to connect to github.com:
github.com[0: 192.30.252.130]: errno=No error

Has anyone encountered this issue?

Thanks

UPDATE
I also tried cloning the repository to my directory and ran bower and had the same error "failed to execute remote and unable to connect.

Jason,

I wonder if this was a temporary thing. Are you still having this issue when you try now?

Yes I tried this morning and i still get the same error. The reason for me doing this is when I clone your video widget and create the json file or even modify an existing file to translate in english and run json-to-po or gulp or gulp build it errors with missing files such as missing jsoncombine that is required therefore I figured downloading the i18n form the repository and recreating the file but I get this error. I am sure its a simple fix but I do not know where to start

Hey Jason,

In the README for the common-i18n, it states to install by typing this into command line
$ bower install git://github.com/Rise-Vision/common-i18n --save

Which is what you did and got the issue you detailed.

After speaking with someone over here, he thinks the issue is that you're behind a firewall, proxy or some network security service, and you can't connect to github with the url starting as git://.

What you should do instead, is write this in command line:
$ bower install https://github.com/Rise-Vision/common-i18n --save

Let us know how you make out with that different command.

Thanks!

I understand, there is no firewall on this network. I will try the not git command and let you know what happens.

the $ bower install https://github.com/Rise-Vision/common-i18n --save works
