How do you configure the HTML5 Video widget to loop the video, I am using the Risevision player app in Google Chrome. My video is located on my own web server within the same VLAN

dwalker,

The HTML5 video widget will automatically loop a video if it is the only item in the placeholder.

There is only a single video in the placeholder and yes, it does loop but not indefinitely, it plays the video several times but then stops, I need it to loop indefinitely until stopped by schedule.

dwalker,

Can you tell me what you see/what happens when it stops looping?

The video is webm format, is approx 1 minute long and it loops for 10 - 15 minutes & then stops, goes to a black screen.  If I quit the player & then restart the video re-commences playing, I have both a Ubuntu player & a windows 7 player, same result on both.  Will run on both again & see if the video stops at the same time.  Will do this tomorrow.

dwalker,

The behaviour you describe is a bug we just encountered and we are currently working on rebuilding the video widget to address this.

In the meantime, I understand from another user who has another type of item in the playlist (for instance, an image), that they are not having this issue and so that may be a temporary workaround while we work on this.

I have placed a 10 second image before & after the video clip (62 seconds) and have run the schedule twice and on both occasions the clip stopped at 16 minutes.  Can you provide a snapshot of the placeholder that the other user employed that maintained the looping.  Have just done a ne test, added another HTML5 Video Widget with an mp4 video file and ran the schedule.  The sequence still stopped at 16 minutes so the time duration is the problem

dwalker,

I assume when you stay it stopped you are still referring to the same behaviour - ie you see just a black placeholder where the video should be, correct?

I followed up with the other user for details and found out that what they thought was working, was not working, unfortunately.  So at this point we are still working on correcting this issue.

Yes, it goes to black, the issue I was eluding to was that it stopped at 16 minutes regardless of the number clips in the placeholder.  Is there any other way to include video in a placeholder instead of using the HTML5 widget.   Also does the widget stream the video constantly and not upload to the media player, I ask this because when I disconnect the network the video stops playing.

dwalker,

We currently have an open issue with the developer of the HTML5 Video Widget. In the meantime you can continue to display video content on your presentation with the Video Item.

The video item does not work, when I copy & paste the URL of the video clip on my web server it locates the video and shows the first frame in the placeholder & after saving & re-publishing I can preview the video OK but the risevision player app goes to a white blank screen, this occurs with both webm & mp4 formats

dwalker,

We are currently working on the html5 video widget to address some concerns raised in the community. Looks for an update soon.

I am having an issue with the widget where I have several videos appearing one after another. When one ends, I need the next to autoplay.  What is happening instead is that I am getting about 6 seconds of the first, a middle few seconds of the next one, and the end of the third. Advice?

Catherine, can you try using the Video item instead of the HTML 5 Video widget?  We are close to releasing a new Video widget to replace the HTML 5 Video widget.

Oh, my mistake. I thought it was the other way around. In that case, that same presentation has about 20 videos queued using the Video item, and none of those play at all. I've tried hosting the content on the Risevision storatge, on Dropbox where I used to keep them, MP4, WEBM ... nothing plays.

Hi Catherine,

That sounds very odd.  Using:

1) the Video item,
2) WebM, and
3) Rise Vision Storage,

should work.  You are saying that nothing at all appears on your display?

What OS and Rise player version are you using?

I'm having the same problem using the HTML5 Video Widget and will switch to the standard video widget. I'm running a single video that is about 8 minutes long. I'd like the video to stay resident on my device and loop and not have to re-stream it each time it plays. The file is fairly large because it's being played on large screens. Is this possible? Re-downloading each time would tax the internet connections as well as the server hosting the video. In this case I'm using the Rise Vision storage.

Hi Ron,

The video file should get cached and should not be downloading each time it is played.

Catherine, just wanted to mention that we just released the beta of the new Video Folder widget, in which you upload your video files to a folder, and then point the widget to that folder.

That sounds great! I will give that a try. Thanks.

Has the HTML5 Video Widget been updated yet? I'm still testing the platform and would like to deploy to the final platform since the video widget is begin depreciated.
