Looking to add a custom Gadget to your Company? Here is how you can do that. We recommend using Rise Storage to host your Gadget, but you can use any publicly accessible Server.

The following example shows how to add the Spreadsheet Gadget to your Company, but the process will be the same for all Gadgets.

1. From your PC, place all the files for your Gadget in a folder. You can download the Spreadsheet Gadget from here as an example.

2. From Rise Storage, select "Upload" then "Upload Folder" and upload the folder that contains your Gadget.

3.  Once the folder upload has completed, navigate within the folder and get the public link for the Gadget's XML file

4. From Rise Vision, navigate to the "Gadgets" Page then select the "Add" button.

5. On the following page, give your Gadget a Title, set "Type" to "Gadget" and paste the URL from Step 3 into the "URL:" field. Once finished, your page should look similar to the one below. Select Save.

6. Your Gadget is now ready to use in a Presentation.

Using your Gadget in a Presentation

From a Placeholder, select "Add", then "Your Content". You will then be presented with a listing of all Gadgets setup under your Company that you can select from.

Thanks! Works great!

Quick question:
Please note that for security reasons, Rise Vision Gadgets that incorporate the Google Drive Picker, e.g., Spreadsheet Gadget, will not work when hosted on Rise Storage or a 3rd party server. Instead, copy the URL to the public Spreadsheet and paste it into the "URL:" field.
In my case, this the Drive Picker worked without problem with the gadget hosted on my webserver.  Is this luck, the fact that I was already signed in to the drive in the browser or something else?

I have my ticker back using the Spreadsheet gadget.  Now any staff person can complete a simple form via google and it displays immediately on the display.

Has this procedure changed recently, or is it different for widgets vs. gadgets?  I'm stuck on step 4:  For me the Rise Vision top menu bar does not have a "Gadgets" tab.

I don't know the actual answer to your question.  However, you can go back to use the http://rva.risevision.com system with the classic editor instead of the newer https://apps.risevision.com

Thanks - now I see that the Classic editor does have the "Gadgets" tab on the main menu but the New editor does not.
