How can I Clear Cache, prevent files from cacheing, or force download new files?

Greetings everyone! We use our RiseVision display to show current traffic conditions. By using a simple slide show that pulls current traffic screenshots.  The files are always the same name, however are updated every 30-90 seconds. The issue we are having is the images are not updating, they are being saved in the cache, and not re-downloaded. The only way we can get the slide show to update is with a restart of the player. I tried a batch script to delete the cache files, every 5 minutes which would work, however the files are returning Access Denied because they are in use by the player.

So that's my dilemma. Would love to be able to show the current conditions however, we're frozen in time since the last restart. Any ideas, or suggestions would be awesome!

Here is the slide show:

Good morning Noah!

Currently the Rise Player stores images in cache, and all available image items and widgets check that cache first. Our developers are working on a change to the recently released image folder widget to check for new images every 15 minutes.

This is just a theory that I haven't been able to test, but you may be able to serve your images through the web page widget instead of the image widget. Simply create a link from your slide in the Storage app, and put it in the URL of the web page widget, then set it to a refresh interval that works for you.

I would be very interested in knowing if this works for you!

Blake! You got it! I previously was using the URL function, instead I used the webpage widget, per your suggestion and set it to the lowest 1 minute update. It works great! Thanks so much!

Noah, I have done the Web Page Image and it does work, however the Image Cache still becomes a factor. You are right to clear the cache, which is dependent on a couple of variables. Which Rise Vision Player are you using and what OS are you on?

Thanks for looking into this for me I appreciate it!

Operating System: Windows XPPlayer Version: RisePlayer 2.0.035
Viewer Version: 1-06-036
Installed Browser: Chrome 24.0.1312.56

Note that cameras may actually be taken offline today at anywhere from 4:30-6:30pm eastern. So that might impede proper testing this afternoon.
