HELP! One Presentation/One Display/Continuous Slideshow

Hello Rise Community.

I am a new user and have implemented digital signage in our museum using the Rise app on an Amazon Firestick. For Phase 1 of our Rise implementation, we are only using a single placeholder (Image content) slideshow (5-10 images) in a single presentation that needs to rotate through the slides continuously during operating hours. There are a few slides that have different timings from the default 10 seconds--some 7...some 10--depending on the "wordiness" of the slide.

Problem: the slideshow is sticking and not advancing after about 15 minutes. The schedule is set to "Always" on a single display.

What can I adjust to have this simple slideshow presentation run continuously?

I would use the new Image Folder Widget, but it does not look like I can control the duration of each slide individually.

PLEASE HELP a newbie!

Thanks!

Mara,

Sorry to hear you're having trouble!

I've not tested the Firestick myself, so I can't say if it is the issue or not, but when you go to the Displays page in your Company, does the Display show a a green or red heart? If it is red, this will mean it is offline, and this is likely the reason it is not advancing.

Also, would it be possible to reboot the Firestick to see if it freezes on the same image it is currently on now? I wonder if there is something specific about that image that is causing the issue.

Let us know how you make out!

Thanks, Robb. The Displays are green and look fine--no wi-fi connectivity issues either. I am going to look at the Firestick settings and see if it might be superseding the Rise schedule. I don't think this is the issue--but...maybe.

Any other ideas?

No, unfortunately nothing else comes to mind. Is a reboot possible? Maybe we can see if it is sticking at a specific point?

The image where the slideshow sticks is random. It seems to have more to do with duration...which is set to Always on the schedule. I'm going to fiddle with the Firestick settings tomorrow morning (too difficult to do when were open to the public) to see if that is the issue.

I'll check back tomorrow on the thread and let everyone know if I have any insight.

Thanks, Robb!

There will be a change to the fire stick and TV android app this month. When we first did the app it was ment for the TV. We used a webview that was a bit ram intensive but allowed video to work. Once the stick came out we really didn't have anything to help the ram issues or a webview that worked well with video. Then a few months back Amazon opened up there webview for use. This updated was great but video didn't work. Now with all the video changes on rise side and us making our own video widget, we will be making the change to the app. Hopefully this will fix your freezing issues once the update is posted. I don't think its an image issue but a ram issue.

Thanks for that info William!

Mara, once William sends out this update, let us know if it fixes your issues.
