Help on multiple RSS feeds in same placeholder. How to show info provider?

Recently, Alan Clayton told us that a RSS widget was under development and asked some ideas about improvement.

Today, I use one single placeholder to show RSS feeds one at a time with a given duration. With the curent gadget, I've not found how to display the information provider for the RSS or a title for this RSS. I could add one placeholder close to the RSS feed but since I've several feeds cycling in the same placeholder, I don't see how I could update that placeholder with the description for each running RSS.

Is there a tip to add such extra information for each of the RSS feed in the placeholder playlist ?

Thanks.

Thierry,

Quick question off the top of my head: Do you know if the source has a title in the RSS feed?

Indeed, most of the RSS thread have a title.

Thierry,

Hmm...that's strange that they would not show up then.

Just so I understand your request as well, you want to be able to add information, or show some default information, when there is nothing reported for that specific element in the RSS feed, is that right?

Hello Robb,

Indeed, it sounds like it depends of the source. The first two don't show up the title while the 3rd one does it. I guess this has something to do with the feed definition.
For (1) and (2), a RSS validator reports many issues.
  1. Here is the first RSS Feed : view-source:http://rss.feedsportal.com/c/864/f/11091/index.rss (Belgian French speaking newspaper).
    <title>Economie - www.lesoir.be</title>
  2. the second one: http://www.solvay.com/en/media/press_releases/index.html?output=FEED (My company RSS)
    <title>Press Releases</title>
  3. http://www.larevuedudigital.com/feed/

So, you may close this thread.
Thanks for your support.

Thierry,

Can you share the RSS feed?

Hi Thierry,
There is a chance that the RSS feed 'template' is not supported on the RSS gadget. For example the RSS Gadget looks for <pubDate> and won't handle the Dublin Core term <dc:date>. By viewing source of the RSS feed we should get a better idea of what tags/format is being used.

Thanks
Hannah
