Hardware & App Crashing

Currently running the RiseVision app on Android, Quad Core MK808B Plus. RiseVision templates are running fine (i.e. Corporate Landscape) with video zones (smaller files) all coming from RiseVision storage, however, once publishing the files do not play. They do appear in review but not live. Additionally, new presentations, not from template, are not appearing at all upon 'publishing' only a small banner at the bottom with logos.

Further, the Scott's app will 'crash' after about 5 minutes of loading this content .

We are exploring new software and RiseVision has been what we are testing internally would like to transition soon. The Asus media players we currently run will require replacement but we are seeking a cost effective alternative for our expansion with players. The business focus is primarily full screen, ready made videos (commercials) for our clients however, custom templates are available with RSS feeds, images, monthly updates, etc.

Any feedback or recommendations for our expanding digital signage company is greatly appreciated.

We are in the process of fixing all the new widgets that uses rise storage . Rise made a change about a week ago on how the did file caching from there storage and we are fixing the player to accommodate the changes they made. We didn't get warned of the changes so we had to play catch up to fix it. We do however have a test version that we are in testing that might be ready for production. If you would like to see if that fixes all your issues we would be glad to send you a copy of the app. Just email us at support@scottsdigitalsignage.com. Also note none of rises widgets cache third party URLs. Only rise storage items. Anyway let us know and we will help thanks..

Also note we bought a 808b plus a few days ago so if I find issues with it, then we will more in likely fix them in future releases in the app.

Alright thank you for that information and your prompt reply. With that, based on your experience, would this media player be sufficient to run my applications? Or would another player be more appropriate? With all the choices out there it is difficult to get an accurate answer..I will download the test app and let you know.

It should run what your doing. You also have a second choice on video as well. There is an android html5 video widget that will work if needed. I developed it for the people using 4.2.2 so they can keep video going but should work on 4.4 and above as well. I will say the first run through though will download videos first and it will be displayed to let you know. After that first run though it should play from cache and just play with nothing in between the rotations. :)

The app is getting updated today. Our first run through was a success and im working on the second run through just to be sure. It should be up today and some point but will take google some time to update there servers.

Also i have a 808b coming since i wanted to see how well it performs in our labs. Some of our sticks is getting old so i needed a new one and that was the cheapest one that i could find. WIll let you know how that goes once we get it.

Anyway i will let you know when we update the app on the store. :)

I fixed the caching issue but rise made another change to video widget that is causing another issue that i have posted on in the forum. I would use the android html5 widget if possible. It should work on the latest version. Hopefully we can get the rise video widget fixed. Sorry for the inconvenience but i have been scrambling to get this working again for everyone.
