Google Calendar ID not working

I made the calendar public and then copied/pasted the Calendar ID and keep getting an error message: "The calendar could not be read. Please ensure that the Calendar ID is correct and that the calendar is public."
Please help me to embed the calendar! I can do it via HTML but my functionality is limited that way. Thanks

Rick,

When you add your calendar ID to this URL
http://www.google.com/calendar/feeds/YourCalendarIDHere/public/full

Do you get a response, or does it come back saying Sorry, this calendar does not have public access enabled. If you are the calendar owner, you can make this calendar public on the calendar sharing settings page

If it is the latter, it hasn't been properly shared. You may want to ensure that Hide busy setting isn't checked in the sharing settings.

Thanks.

Thank you, the calendar is public but the "hide busy" setting is checked and grayed out. How do I go about unchecking it?

Rick,

Are you using Google Apps? If you're using Google Apps this should be resolvable by going to your Domain Management page, then Google Apps -> Calendar Settings -> Administrator Settings and changing the External Sharing Options. This will have to be done by a Domain Administrator.

Let us know if that solves the issue.

This extra step solved my problem! Thanks

Ahhh maybe we're getting closer to the problem.

I am a franchisee for a business and the franchisor controls the domain name. So I created a calendar but don't control the overall domain settings.

Could this problem be resolved if I create the calendar using my personal gmail account instead of my business?

Rick,

I think that would be the best way to correct this. I know when I am testing, I use a calendar that I created so I can manipulate it separately from the Google Apps calendar, and it works like a charm.

Let us know how you make out!

Thank you, Robb.

I created a new Google account but don't see the administrator settings button on the calendar settings. Can you please point men in the right direction?

Rick,

That admin option isn't part of a regular Gmail or Google account, just the Google Apps accounts. I know...confusing :).

When you have your calendar open, there should be a small arrow next to it that you can click, and then you will see an option for Calendar Settings. This picture shows what I mean:

In there, you can get the Calendar ID, make it public, all that jazz.

Let us know how you make out!

Thanks again.
I finally have the sharing feature resolved and the Calendar ID works... but now the calendar is blank... it just says Gadget Google Calendar and the rest is white. Do you know how to fix that?

Rick,

What is the company name that this presentation is under? I would like to put a copy of this presentation up on my screen and see if I can replicate your issue.

Rick,

Thanks!

Are you seeing the blank calendar in preview only?

I put a copy of your presentation on my screen here in the office, and the calendar only shows up all white in the preview and when you're making edits to the presentation itself. When I view the presentation on an actual display, it shows 2 days (but no events). Are there events in your calendar for these 2 days? (today and tomorrow):

My Google Calendar is properly shared and public, however it does not display calendar meetings-- in the preview view all I can see is "Today" and "Tomorrow" (one on top of the other) with no meetings even though the calendar has items. How do I get the two to sync?

Rick,

When I look at your calendar, there doesn't appear to be any scheduled events in it.
As a comparison, if I use this to see what shows in your calendar, there doesn't appear to be anything scheduled. When you look at this one we use in testing, you can see that there is a big difference between the two.

Can you check to ensure that the "Share only my free/busy information (Hide details)" setting is unchecked? Also, can you check to ensure you are using the proper calendar ID?

Regarding why it shows Today and tomorrow on the Display, this is a result of having the Events Gadget only show 2 days (Number of Days field).

Thanks.

Events gadget set to 1
Share only my free/busy is unchecked
Calendar ID is public and verified...
Still not working, anything else to try?

Rick,

Can you share a preview link to your Presentation in here? I'd like to look at it for myself to see if I an determine the issue.

Thanks!

That's fine Rick.

Let me do a bit of poking around and I'll let you know if I can figure anything out.

Thanks!

Rick,

I think Neal is right, the issue here is there are no entries in your calendar.

Here's how I arrived at that conclusion; Using the link Neal supplied way up in the first response, we have 49 results in our test calendar, and I have circled the first entry. As you can see here:

When I look at your calendar, I see 0 results, and 0 entries. As you can see here:

To verify that this is the issue, I would recommend adding a few test entries to your calendar, and then changing the Number of Days in the Google Calendar Gadget from 2 to 7, just so you can see all of them. Once you can see some of the entries, you can start modifying the Gadget and the Calendar entries to look exactly how you want them to look.

I hope that helps!

Thank you for the thoughtful reply however the calendar indeed already has test events

Hmm...I wonder why they aren't showing up in there then.

Just to be 100% certain, you are adding these test events to the Walk Ins calendar right? Not your own calendar?

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled
Google Calendar display issue.

I finaly have the calendar displaying, but it only shows the start time of the meeting. So for example, I have a meeting from 10:00-12:00 on the calendar but it only displays as 10:00 on the presentation. How do I change it so that the entire meeting length appears?

This should be my final question! Thanks!
