=====================================================================================================================================================

Hello,
Since Chrome 43 and with Chrome OS, it is possible to request remotely a screenshot of a Chromebox configured in Kiosk mode. The main limitation today is that it is available only from the Google Domain Console. So, available only for registered Chromeboxes and for domain admin only.

I've no idea if this screenshot feature is available using API's. But it would be very great if the such screenshot could be obtained from the Rise Display configuration beside 'Download player|restart Player|Reboot Computer|Get Screenshot'. This would allow to ensure that the player i running well.

is that possible ?

Hi Thierry, we are considering adding this feature as part of our revised monitoring, and at this point we are not sure what api we will use to deliver it. Very curious who could benefit from this and wants it?

Thanks!

I can tell exactly why I am using this option with our managed devices. Every morning I am checking the status of our deployed players. One player in particular appears to have RED status pretty much all the time. Basically, I am using screen capture option from google management console to make sure it is working fine (google is showing it green in console, though). Also, I am checking all the players from time to time just to be sure that nobody is playing porn and stuff  on our devices... just kidding. I want to be sure that updates we've made are being displayed properly because online preview does not always show exactly the same as on actual display.

We are doing this with a script on our debian based devices, pushing screenshots to our own internal DS monitor so we can eyeball any issues with content loading incorrectly etc, have not looked at doing this with chrome os yet however will be in the future should we roll them out to clients.

The feature is a must have if you're serious about actively monitoring your displays for issues.

We would also love this functionality. Our current digital signage solution uses screenshots along with up/down statuses so we can see at a glance what all of our screens are showing. It's very helpful to our staff to be able to troubleshoot sites that have issues.

Would love this for Windows devices as well. I was actually digging through the community to see if anyone had already done this.

I've seen some people using nircmd and setting up scripts to send the pics back home. Maybe worth looking at if you're using Win boxes :)

Hi

Do you have any progress on this? We would really like to see this as an option. We have problem with our presentation, that when we change content and refresh the presentations, some of our screens gets bugged and needs to be rebooted. Each time different machines needs this. And then we need to check via teamviewer more than 40 machines. simply by clicking on get screenshot feature it will help us alot.

You might want to look into nircmd for Windows or snapping a screenshots of the X window in Ubuntu.. you could work out something to post images back to a local database at home of that's an option. Would be more on the complicated side of things, but I'd consider doing it here if we move off ChromeOS. Still interested if a Chrome option becomes available also :)

You can also have a look at shareX which is a screenshot and screen recording software.
