I had the free weather widget up and running in my presentation up to last Friday 1/8/2016 and this morning [Monday 1/11/2016]  stops working. i restarted the presentation, save and published it, edit, saved and published the widget and still is a "not show". tried to find the Free weather widget to reinstall it but is not there anymore, has it been removed to a paid version?
shouldn't we [customers] be advice with 30 in advance before it gets removed so we can decide to paid for it or not? it could also be on my end but i am not sure, please help.
thanks!

Hi SogIt,
When you first configure the weather widget, there is a disclaimer regarding its status:

If you are looking for a free solution, I know that other users have been able to embed the HTML code of weather widget providers and using the HTML Widget. If you do a Google search for 'embed weather widget html' there are some providers there.

thank you HSuarez,

i am ok with that and i even mentioned it on my post, but i thought we will get an sort of notification [probably an email] stating our "free trial" will expire soon. is it "per customer" or it became paid for every body?
we also have news and traffic widgets, is it going to be removed of our presentation with out notice as well? do i have 30 more days since "when" so i can start making arrangements to get a substitution.
I already found a HTML weather widget from a third party [accuweather.com or booked.net for instance].
i don't want to sound pissed but a bit disappointed. i just promised my boss Rise Vision was the best option out there and the next day after we ran our presentation in our Directory Board, the weather widget stopped working. no the best impression!

I'm sorry to hear about this, I'd like to investigate to see if there is anything specific about your Presentation that may be causing the issue.

Can you share a link to your Presentation preview here, and we can test to see if we can determine what is going on?

Thanks!

Hi Sogit,
We've have just finished testing the presentations on your account and can see some content missing which looks like a Storage issue. However in the presentations there are two different versions of the Weather Widget.
Both are working however you can copy the Weather Widget from the Landscape presentation's Playlist to the Portrait since this one came up immediately.

To copy a Playlist Item:

1. In the Landscape presentation, go to the Placeholder and Playlist containing the weather widget > On the weather widget's playlist, click on 'Add' > In the menu, select 'Copy'
2. Then in the Portrait presentation, go to the Playlist > select 'Add'

Let us know how you go with the weather widget or if you need further help with copying the Playlist Items,

Thanks

we are very glad we could do that [copy/paste]
i dont really know what did you mean by
"can see some content missing which looks like a Storage issue"
my Portrait [main presentation] is complete and working like a clock.
thank again and like a said, i wont mind for the widgets to go to a paid version but i would love to by advised first so i can discuss the payment part with my boss.

We aren't really sure what happened, I wonder if it was a snag on your network's end, because everything ran as expected for us.

I understand you have the Free Weather Widget running at the moment, but I would highly recommend checkout out one of the paid options, which all have a trial period, so you can test it on your Display before you buy it, and if you don't like it, just let the trial expire.

Let us know if you have any feedback about the premium Weather Widget!

Hi there, in regards to the weather and news.  The weather is updated every hour, the news  headline widget checks in every 30 minutes, but really depends on the news available at the time. Hope that answers your question!

In regards to the Traffic Widget:

The widget requests fresh data from the google APIs every 5 minutes and updates to display this new information the moment it is successfully received.

We chose not to make this particular setting available to end users because while we are requesting new data every 5 minutes the widget is still directly limited by how often google pushes updated information through the APIs. This can vary, but is typically less frequent than the refresh rate we have built into the widget.

In short:
- The Traffic Widget updates as frequently as google makes new data available (with a maximum delay of 5 minutes).
- We chose to hard code this refresh rate because it is still ultimately controlled by the Google API rather than the widget itself (so any user control within the widget would not increase or decrease the actual refresh rate).

Hopefully this helps to answer your question, and if you have any other questions about the Traffic Widget please let us know.

A 5 minute refresh is great; for this instance I don't see the user input as really necessary. So RV should refresh with the most current info within 5 minutes of it being in Google. Good to have a solid answer for customers. We appreciate you! :)
