Force presentation with Google Spreadsheet widget to refresh

We have a presentation (http://preview.risevision.com/Viewer.html?type=presentation&id=e3360b65-11d1-45bb-a13d-34f145832d66&showui=false) that uses a Google Spreadsheet to show event information. The data is pulled from a spreadsheet which parses an XML feed and then in a second tab filters the data so as the end time for the events passes, they drop off. This works well. However, sometimes what happens is as the data is scrolling and lines drop off the scroll gets stuck. Sometimes the scroll gets stuck with half lines visible and sometimes the portion of the screen with the spreadsheet widget just goes blank and stays that way until the player reboots overnight.

The obvious question would be "how do I fix this?" I haven't been able to find any errors or logical reason for the issue so the secondary question (topic of this post) is how do I force the presentation or widget to completely refresh? The data refresh setting in the widget has no affect on this issue. Restarting the player will correct the issue until the next line drops off. We've had this issue for a while and it has persisted across both the Chrome App Player, Native Player and various hardware/OS combos as well as Chrome versions.

I'm open to any and all suggestions. Thanks!

Try to add a script on the google presentation and keep it open somewhere in a browser. I did it with a Google sheet by adding this script that adds an 'x' to cell B1 everyday at 1 am.
It forces the google sheet to update in the cloud.

function myFunction() {
  SpreadsheetApp.getActiveSheet().getRange('B1').setValue('x');
}

Rob, thanks for the tip. The spreadsheet is updating so that isn't the issue. Our issue is presentation side.

Robert,

Does this issue only persist on your player?

I will run and test this presentation today and see what we can do for you.

I've only seen it once in Preview but I've not had the chance to let it run for a whole day. We use this presentation on four different players and they all exhibit the same issue. The document doesn't change until the end time of an event passes. Here's today's events sorted by end time: https://s3.amazonaws.com/bpa-ds-assets/Scratch/GridExport130982079138090544.pdf

Thanks!

Hi Robert,

Just letting you know I left your presentation running on my player and I couldn't recreate the issue unfortunately.

When you encounter this issue again, could you let us know by opening a support ticket with us so we can remote-in to your display and troubleshoot in realtime?

Ashleigh
