Folder for computers and presentations

Is it possible to have a folder system to make it easier to find and have overall control on your presentations and computers?

I have a client that have 140+ shops throughout Norway, and its regions/cities. So that will make it 140+ computers/presentations, and we also have a shopping mall and probably more to come. And it will be a lot of help if it was possible to catalog them in folders and separate them apart, and don't have to scroll through a long list of unsorted files and computers.

So how I imagine it will look like is a Microsoft "File Browser" style: Client -> Region -> City -> Area

I hope you see the effectiveness of this and try to embed this to Rise Vision as it is today =)

I would love to see this, even just working with 9 displays showing different content can get very daunting when some of it is internal communication and some of it is public facing advertising and being able to seperate things into a folder structure would be amazing

I don't know if "bumping* a post is frowned upon, but I'm really hoping the developers will look into this and other users can see the benefits of this. And if you, the user see the benefits, pleas like it =)

Thanks

This would be hugely helpful, as there is no way to download/backup rise presentations from other users affecting them, if you could include permissions that would be really helpful. While testing presentations and different hardware solutions, I've noticed both the displays and presents up areas have ballooned in terms of content and this is with only myself and a content manager, and we're not halfway through our scheduled rollout. Being able to separate these items by folder would be a huge help for organization.

I'm in favor.  30 locations with 2-4 displays per location with some presentations that apply to one and some presentations that apply to several and some that apply to all is a pain to manage.

I have taken to prefixing presentations based on the location or group so that when I sort alphabetically, it's easier to find things.

Adrian,

No update as of yet unfortunately. But rest assured, we will be updating everyone if this gets added to the platform.

Feel free to keep bumping though, that's how new users see these types of things :)

Thanks!

I actually had not seen this before, but this feature is sorely needed. With the handful of devices we've deployed in the field, it's already getting overwhelming. So far I've just tried to do a good naming convention. But yes "me too"! :)

Hi Adrian and Wendi,

Have you thought about creating sub-companies? That would probably be the best way to manage all your presentations and devices.

To your initial comment Adrian you could have:

Main company > Sub company > Sub Company of a Sub Company > Presentations/ Players/ Schedules

Which would be similar to what you described:

"Client -> Region -> City -> Area"

Thanks!

That is exactly what we do.

Hi Shea,

Yes we have several sub-companies. It works alright, though I don't think it's "ideal" exactly. We have some companies that don't care about managing anything on their end, therefore it's an entire company setup just for a single presentation. Then on the other end of the spectrum we might need a little more management on what specifically people can edit. Say I want them to be able to edit certain portions of the playlist but not others.. a sub-company still kind of works but it then gets messy between multiple sub-companies and embedded presentations (which are being depreciated anyway). Just needs a little more hierarchy in my opinion. :)

Thanks Robb, didn't see this before now, and this couldn't be more accurate. In my town we set 3 or 4 rain records and 4 clear days in August and ca the same in July :P
