Flickering overlap on widgets... have to reboot.

Hello Community...

Our communications team uploaded a presentation and from time to time, the areas where the twitter widget, photo album widget , and the google calendar widget after awhile seem to start flickering right near where the edges overlap (it's like you can see the scrolling happening behind the layer almost... but the screen refreshes oddly) .  I've edited it for them, and will see, but this has been a battle for the last couple of weeks.  Ive run optimization on the linux boxes as per another conversation, but still.. it flickers.  It will flicker in a day... a couple days... it's not very clear why.  Also from time to time, the rise player just stops...

Sample presentations never did this....

(Does this make sense)

Hi IT guy,

Any chance you could give us a link to the presentation to check it out?

http://preview.risevision.com/Viewer.html?type=presentation&id=7633e48d-201c-4661-a63d-b9e66eb41...

I took a video, and it looks like the google calendar is causing it.. but so high up on the flickr feed for images. Trying to help out the communications team figure this out.

When we reboot the ubuntu box.. then it's ok.. but it'll come back... other things start disappearing off the screen...  memory leak or??

As the google calendar rises, after a handful of hours, the center flickr feed will develop a white scrolling bar flickering at the same speed as the google calendar feed.

(sorry for the fuzzy screenshot)

Leskin,

I can't say I've seen this happen before. Would it be possible for you try to and run this presentation on another computer and display?

we have similar presentations on two different displays.. and they both exhibit similar "stuttering"/white line flickering issues.

Luskin,

I will be adding a display to your company to try and replicate this issue. I'll let you know what I'm able to find.

Thanks!!  I checked all the "optimization" settings against the RISE recommended settings.... Looks like they were all done already as our devices came pre-config'd by Rise. I am thinking it may be the Google Calendar gadget causing these issues at times.  Running TOP/HTOP I didnt see that much resources used..

Luskin,

I haven't been able to recreate the issue that you're seeing. I'm going to get this on a few more players to check out.

In the meantime, could you try removing the Rise Player Chrome App and instead use our Rise Linux Player? Instructions on it's installation can be found here.

checked startup, and noticed both Rise Vision Player and Risee Vision Chrome App Player were both check marked. made sure the chrome app player was removed from startup on both machines.. ran the commands on the installation as per the guide.. and went thru the install... said "y" to rise vision player.. and entered the approprite display id's into both units.. rebooted...  we'll see how it goes from here..  thanks for the suggestion.
