Export/Import configuration

  • Under Consideration
Is it possible to export the entire configuration to some kind of file format?
We're going to be managing a complex environment, and would like to be able to have the configuration in a format that we can analyse and audit.

Ideally we would be able to modify/generate a configuration file and import it into the system as well.

Are these features available, or on the roadmap?

Hi Nicholas,

This feature is not available at this time. I have changed this from a question to an idea, if other members from the community would like to see this feature please like it or comment on it.

Thanks,
Shea

Hi Shea, This idea was requested a long time ago when Rise was asking for user input on what people wanted.  Surprised it dropped off the original radar?

I recall in an old post that we mentioned we are always cut 'n pasting the presentation code into text files in case something is loss or deleted so that we do not have to endure hours of work rebuilding presentations.

The Export feature would not only put people's minds to rest (as a safe backup), but could essentially help to transport presentations from one sub company to another.

Also, it could help speed up presentation creation as it is often faster to work directly with code than the GUI.

It dropped off the radar due to lack of demand, but let's leave it right here and let the community vote it up and I will work it into the backlog in time. Thanks!

Does Rise store the configuration that the GUI edits in files, or in a database?
If I wanted to write this myself, could I do this by using any API or is it in source that we can edit?
