End to End Code "Examples" (for the core API).

I would love to see 3 or 4 examples of simple applications, like retrieving display status under a company ID. This example would need to be end to end, from OAuth to formatted HTML the output.

From what I can tell from the threads of others who are also struggling, these examples would server the largest audience if built for Ruby, .Net and PHP.

My personal interest would be PHP but I would bet that it would be super helpful to the community at large (and possibly expand the developer base dramatically), to have a complete tutorial in any language.

I'd like that, too.  I'm not completely confident in what I am doing in developing a simple app that restarts all displays at once.  I feel like seeing something like that would go a long way.

Hi guys,

Thanks for this idea. I know our developers are absolutely swamped at the moment, but I'll pass this along. Hopefully we can get something worked out!

I join the request. It is really the time you need to provide such samples. There are soooo many issues around this. There is no available code sample in this whole site.

All,
Just a reminder to make sure you "Like" the idea if it is something you are interested in seeing in our documentation.

Thanks!

We are in the middle of writing to the RV api now and if I had any feedback it would be to dramatically improve available documentation and samples.  Trying to scope what's required for this has been almost impossible.  I very much support this!

I know exactly how you feel. At first, it was just a whole bunch of stuff I didn't understand that connects to a whole bunch other stuff I didn't understand. Stick with it. It does make sense, but it takes some time for it to sink in. If you have any questions, post them on the community, and I can try to help.

Try looking at this..

http://45.55.74.55/Rise/

You should be able to log in as your company and look at your displays and what presentation is on it. Then you can look at the javascript in the developer console.

Let me know if this works. I built it to test what I could see about our company using the Core API, but in theory it should work for anyone who logs in.

Here is what ultimately should happen...

When you click on the display name the info below it should load about the presentation, status, and last online time.

Did it ever load a Display name?

I know you probably don't have time to troubleshoot this, but I am curious to see where it got to in the calls. The console outputs where it is in the call process, and when it gets an object back, it outputs it to the console as well. Can you see where it got to?

Hi Stephen - I tried it out and have posted a screenshot of what I see which is my name and Company. Is there an email that I can send through or I can upload it here. Thanks for sharing the link!

Oh and also click on the Display name, and you will get more info. There's not an indicator that you can do that, but you can.

Hi Stephen,

This works for me using the link you provided.

Did you add this to Github or will you add this and allow me to inspect the code and how it is built?

It appears to cover a lot of core functions and I think it could be educational for me.

regards,
Jim Coyle
