Hi Michael, we built an app a few years ago that would retrieve data from a Dean Evans EMS then make that data available to a Dean Evans Gadget so it could be shown on a Display.  It didn't get much traction so it just kind of slipped to the bottom of the priority list and hasn't been touched since. Instead of letting this work sit and do nothing, we are releasing this to the Community as an open source project!

What we built supports the GetAllBookings function and will show on a Display the Start Time, End Time, Event Name, Room #, Room Description and Contact. The project is hosted on Github here, https://github.com/Rise-Vision/dean-evans and includes the local app that pulls back data from the EMS and the Gadget you would add to your Presentation. Feel free to use the app as-is or take the source code to improve what we started.

Let us know how you make out!!

Muhammed,

I have been trying to assist Ben in building and using this project. Ben and I have little knowledge of how to build this app using Eclipse.

I have tried numerous ways to import the projects but can not get past the import process. And when I try to export as a war file the option doesn't even exist in Eclipse.
Are there still some steps missing from the instructions? Is there a specific method for importing the projects that needs to be followed?

Thanks,
Tony

Hi Antonio,

Lets take step by step.

Are you able to import both EMSService and EMSWeb projects in Eclipse?

Found out what the problems were:
1. First I had to use Eclipse IDE for Java EE Developers instead of Eclipse IDE for Java Developers to get the web project options for the import and .war export.
2. I had to download Jetty and reference the Jetty .jar files in order to build and export the projects.

I was then able to compile the installer. All seems to be good now. Looks like a couple of small details need to be included in the instructions for the inexperienced like me.

Thanks,
Tony

That's good to know you were able to build the project. I will add these details to readme.

Thanks
