Figuring on a solution for a door sign. Maybe a Galaxy Tab in some sort of frame (to keep it from being stolen) Have anybody tried this before and can it handle the sunshine. It will be mounted on the door itself behind its window. So we have to power it with a flex cable over the hinge. And possibly some window film to block the UV.
Ideas??

Hi there Orjan!

Interesting idea! If this is a Galaxy Tab, it sounds like you would be running the My Rise Player form Scott's Digital Signage.

Hopefully William with their team can chime in here if he has any experience on that device.

Thanks!

LED board instead of LCD perhaps? LCD will fail miserably in direct sunlight.

I had the Samsung OLED in mind. Is it Tab S or what it is named...Another thing to check if it runs varm with screen alvays on. Doesen\t LED and LCD have the same chemical problem in sunlight....

I was talking these: http://bikerglen.com/projects/lighting/led-panel-1up/led-panel-1up-files/rgb-led-panel-wall-front.jp... There are some ticker strips that could do as well. May I ask why all that hassle just to show business hours?

For the film anti-UV film. There are dedicated window films for that (often tinted). Also you could look for the optically clear vinyl overlam with anti-UV.

Ok, we were looking for more like a meeting room style. And also the possibility to follow graphical guidelines and we could for example highlite todays hours. And even reprogram when there\s hollidays. I also think that My Rise Player can use all pixels and would be a very nice look.

The LED/panel would be great in a mall or so but this project needs some more design and finish.
The great thing with a tab is that all is included, just add 5 volt. Don\t have a tab to test with but my S7 shows up as 2560x1632 pixels in Rise.

Sorry I misunderstood. I was thinking you need something like that https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/564x/8e/04/b6/8e04b6d6176fa7fba73b85639c67405c.jpg

The only advantage of tablet is that it requires less power, but the trade off is the brightness. What if you get inexpensive, reasonable quality monitor with external power block (thin power cable, can be hidden in drop-down ceiling). Yes, more power needed.... really just few more $ per year; but you get much more brighter display. Another idea to consider - wireless hdmi adapter. Those are pricey, but removes cables.

Wireless hdmi is a good idea, yes we have just computer-cut the text for now...

Also, forgot to mention, if tablet is your choice think about e-ink. Those have good contrast under any light conditions and consume little power.
