I ́m a content producer trying to figure out a good solution for my client and recommend the best hard ware for their purpose.
I ́m not planning to streem video content.

As long as the machines are running Windows 7, or Linux Ubuntu, then you should be fine. I know a while back (a few years) that Samsung had enabled ewf on their Displays with Windows built-in computers that would undo any attempts at installation after rebooting. I would ensure ewf isn't enabled if you're using Windows.

Thanks.

Neal, Does RiseVision ever intended to develop the API for the Samsung SoC (SSSP)?

I wish I had a samsung tv with sssp, because it wouldn't take much to make an app for it. I would help but don't have anything to test.

Sure I need to freshen up on my c/c++. It's been a while but I'm up for a good challenge. Also the sdk development uses eclipse I can use the emulator for the time being and once I think I'm close I would let you know about testing on a real tv. Might take me a little while but I believe I can get the ball Rollin with this.

From what Samsung was telling me, they are going to release a new SDK soon. I also have a few sets in my lab and would love to assist in testing if you are willing to take this on.

Cool let me know on the new sdk so that I can grab it as soon as it comes out. I'm also looking into the sdk they have and what I can do with it. Got to play a little :) I will send you something to play with once I'm close. Be patient though I'm one man on a mission lol. I will keep updates like I did with my android app.

Looks like I might be able to do this web based instead of c/c++, so that will be much easier to do. I will get to work on it tomorrow and figure out the best action to take.

Awesome! I think adding this platform to Rise is just going to make it that much better! I will be willing to help in any way I can to see this through to reality. I have several contacts at Samsung for assistance if required. Thanks again William!

A little but like i said this is going to take some time to do because getting all the connections and working components to work can be time consuming. This project isn't going to be a quick one. There is a lot to rise in the background than most don't see.

Been working hard to get this going and it's getting close. Still a ways away but I can confirm it's looking better as I get farther into it. Thank you Rise for getting me a tv to work with. It has helped out a ton. Will keep you informed.

William,
That is awesome.. thanks for the update! Do you have the latest firmware for the TV you have? I can provide it for you if you let me know which model it is that you have.

Actually samsung provided me with it. I do have to ask, there is a difference between v1 2013 model and v2 2014 and when the time comes and you get a v2 model could you do some testing for me? V2 either just came out or is on the verge but I know it's there. The big thing is that samsung added a way to download the app to the tv so it will run on the tv. The v1 model you had to host the app. Also v1 is 1280x720 only and v2 is 1920x1080. I will provide both versions just need the v2 model testing when time comes. Thanks

William,
Have you had any additional luck on the Samsung SSP Platform or has this fizzled out?

It works but there is a ton of issues. Samsung doesn't really allow the device to run as a server. This cuts out restart, reboot, and caching features because rise needs the client to run as a server to get those to work. Video blinks on all transitions and a few widgets tend to not work right. Another issue is Samsung the past 2 yrs changed how things worked on different models without updating the old to run like the new. Kinda odd why they won't but changes that doesn't go across older models means added development. The last bit is 2015/2016 models. Will they go to tizen. If they go to tizen then there goes the development and everyone has to change.

Samsung would be great to have but you have to build your system around it and only use it for that purpose. That's something that rise is not about and that's why it's better to get players. This way changes are done to an updatable system and your not stuck to one company.

Anyway I tried to develop the Samsung side for everyone but there are to many issues that it's almost not worth putting up. I would rather face android issues than Samsung TV. It can be that bad.
