Displays getting blocked using the Image Folder Widget

It's taken me a little bit to actually figure this out, but there are a couple of my displays that are showing up as blocked. All the displays are running off of Chromeboxes, and it seems that the recent addition of the Image Folder Widget is causing the block.

I have a test machine sitting on my desk just running the Image Folder Widget, cycling through about 60 photos at 5sec intervals. This test machine has also shown up as blocked. The photos are being pulled direct from Rise Storage.

Any help would be greatly appreciated here.

Bryant,

Does it look like the display is reloading often?

No it does not. I've setup the same presentation that includes the Image Folder Widget on two different displays. Both of those displays now show as being blocked as of early this morning. Now I understand that if the Chromeboxes are on a Wifi network that may not have the greatest reliability, that blocks may be incurred. Both this displays are on WiFi connections. However it still doesn't explain why my test machine that is on the ethernet connection is also getting blocked while running just the Image Folder Widget. Could it be the number of photos in the folder? Or is this possibly a deeper network issue?

Bryant,

How many photos do you have in the folder? Can you try tinkering with the time each photo is displayed and see if that makes a difference?

You may be a good candidate for a priority support subscription, this would give you one on one access with one of our technicians.

Bryant, just to add my 2 cents here, we have another client showing a lot of images with the Image Folder Widget and they are not having that problem so I don't think that the number of images you specified is a problem.  They are using the default duration of 10 seconds for each image.

Mylife,

Can you please provide a link to a preview of the presentation causing the block?

Blake, Are there any issues today with the notification alert features? I have received several emails. When I click on the Display feature i see the displays listed and it is showing a Green heart, but when I click on the display to view the settings it is showing a Red Heart and that it is disconnected.

Mylife,

I haven't seen any out of the ordinary alerts coming through. Is it possible that the network that your displays are on is having hiccups?

Yea, I'll be back an connected to the web in a few minutes . I am on my drive back from visually checking at a location. Should I provide it here or is there any direct messaging to you?

Here is the link to the preview of the slideshow of photos I'm trying to show. I'm using the Image Folder Widget pointing back to a folder on Rise Storage. The duration is 10sec per photo. All the display devices are Chromeboxes.

Bryant,

Thank you. Because this has been flagged by two community users in a brief amount of time, we are looking into this being a global issue. I will get your presentation up on our uptime devices to see if I can recreate the block or get any ideas as to why it is happening.

Bryant,

Do you have any idea how long it was taking for your display to be blocked while running this presentation?

IDK if it will help, but one of my locations was showing "Blocked" twice 12 hrs apart. But what is weird is, several times I log in and view the company with blocked displays and 30 mins I login an it was green, then again it was red but without a block notice in that frame? For example on the thread i sent you, it says my device was Blocked between 12-1pm, but the red heart says last updated just before 1:52pm but it was green after that I believe

I'm having pretty much the same issues that Mylife614 mentioned above. I've been checking on the displays throughout the day today, and the block notices have happened at the following times for a single display...

Sometimes the heart will be red saying offline or blocked. Other times it will show up green, and no block notice. I'm sure if this block is actually working correctly, or telling us the correct information.

Thank you and I look forward to a response. If I can get on location, I will visually check up on it again here in a bit to see if I see anything on that end.

We have implemented a change that we believe will fix this issue. While your displays may remain blocked for the remainder of the blocking period, please update this thread should you notice any continued abnormal blocking.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Displays Blocked.

Over the past two days, I have had multiple displays blocked for a very short period of time.  Is this normal?  They seem to be going a little "wonky" One will be blocked, then I'll look again and it will be a different on.  Has anyone seen this?  weird.

So far, the displays have not shown the blocked message today. I will keep an eye on things throughout the day to make sure. I still believe there is an issue with the Image Folder Widget. Sometimes it just won't cycle through photos correctly within a presentation. Still trying to figure that out.

Bryant,

Thanks for watching the status of this. Let me know if you continue to see issues.

Will do. Thank you for looking into that blocking issue for us all. I'm messing with that folder widget for images. It almost seems completely random for when it wants to actually cycle through photos.
