Displaying a single event each day from calendar

Am I doing this right? Are there better ways to do this?

This is for a school district, I want to show the lunch menu each day pulled from an external datasource, and in this case I'm using Google Calendar but I don't know if there's a better way to do it.

School lunch information is available months into the future so that all the information can be entered in an hour or two, and then the RV presentation is auto-updated from the calendar data each day.

1. Create a separate Google Calendar just for lunch menu information.
2. For each day, enter the info in the event description, but the event name is ignored.

3. Due to the event info being interpreted as HTML, need to insert basic tags into the event info for line breaks and paragraph breaks.

4. Insert into RV presentation using the Google Calendar Widget. Turn off everything in the widget except Show Event Description.

So, is this the "best" and simplest way to be doing this or should I be using some other method?

The output is weird and does not really fit the Calendar object shape correctly. There is a blank area above the calendar info that I can not remove. Also it displays an annoying line below the event description that I see no way to remove.

Presentation layout (text box placed over Calendar widget in annoying empty gap above data):

Hi Dale,

Rather than using the Calendar Widget, I would suggest the Spreadsheet Widget. Many of our users use it for menu boards. It will probably look better and be less effort to update.

Yesterday, another user posted an example of how he gets a spreadsheet with a lot of data to update daily and only show the relevant information. You can see how he did it here. https://community.risevision.com/rise_vision_inc/topics/code-google-sheets-integration-automatically...

Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks,
Shea
