I am using Chromebox and Rise Vision Chrome Player to manage my displays.

I have noticed that a display on my network automatically change from 1920x1080 to 1366x768 causing the presentation to be useless.

What could explain this and how do i make sure that display stick to one resolution.

Sanjay,

Is it only a single display? Is this display using the same presentation and schedules that other players are using with no issue?

We have 15 displays, out of which 10 are on 1920x1080, 3 are on 1366x1080 and rest two fluctuate between 1366x1080 and 1920x1080. Each display has dedicated presentation and dedicated scedule.

When I notice resolution changing for these two displays, I have to also change the presentation on their schedules.

From my experience it depends on the resolution set in the display. If i.e. a TV is used as the display the resulution setting recoginzed by the RV application is picked-up automatically by the RV Display/Schedule application from the connected display after the display has been connected to the display computer.
If one changes the resolution of the TV screen, RV recoginzes the resultion change set (i.e. 16:9, 4:3, Zoom or whatever). My best experiences are with a TV that allows the setting "unscaled" because all other settings cut-off parts from the presentation when a presentations has been made in 1920x1080 format. Maybe this helps you a little to think out of the box.

I tested yesterday some of my 1920x1080 presentation with a nice Samsung TV of a friend of mine and was surprised that the presentations that run perfectly in full screen mode on Philips Smart TVs were cut-off drastically. When I logged-in into my RV account I saw the resolution recognized by RV was just 720px - that's why. So the TV of my friend does simply not comply to the presentation resolution at all because all other resolution setting options in the Samsung TV did not allow to show the full screen of the presentation.

So I always make sure that the resolution of my presentations match the scheduled display resolution and an "unscaled" resolution option is given in the TV settings. There is also a difference between HD, Full HD, and HD Ready. HD Ready only may cause some problems that can only be fixed when changing the general resolution of the presentation. That's at least my experience.

Best regards,
Frank

Sanjay,

I believe this may have to do with the Chromebox and your Display rather than the Rise Player. Can you tell me, do you experience this after power cycling the display?

Sanjay,

Has the display been turned off or unplugged?

Some times the sites do turn off display, otherwise it's scheduled reboot that they have.

Out of 15 displays, only 3-4 exhibit this problem though they all have been setup in the same way.

Sanjay,

This is pretty odd. I would suggest that if your display is being powered down, it could affect the resolution that your Chromebox is sensing. Would you be able to move one of the malfunctioning chromeboxes to a display that you haven't seen this issue on, and move a working chromebox to a display that you are seeing the issue on?

I was planning to re-install the Rise Vision player on these devices. Will let you know if i can find a clear resolution or understanding of this issue.
