Display not found

I installed the Ubuntu version of RV on a client.  It worked fine, but I realized that I needed to set a static IP instead of DHCP.  I had to delete the display in my account and reinstall RV on the client. When I tried to re-add it, it won't accept the new ID.

Hmm...the typical reason I have seen for this is that the Display ID was entered in wrong. Can you confirm that the Display ID is being entered in correctly, and that the Display has access to the internet?

Also, make sure you aren't entering in the Display ID of the Display that you deleted.

Let us know how you make out!

I tried it twice with 2 different ID's.  Didn't make a difference.  Is there a way to completely delete the RV config on the client and start over?  I did the Uninstall RV already.  That didn't help.

Click on the Unity ball in the top corner of your Linux desktop and search for "Uninstall Rise Vision Player". That will completely remove all Rise Vision Player configuration settings from the Display. You can confirm this by seeing that the rvplayer folder has been removed from the /home folder in the File Explorer.

Are you saying when you run the Uninstall Rise Vision Player option, it does not remove that rvplayer folder?

I also ran into the same thing as Ryan. "Additionally, the RV Player allows us to enter Proxy Settings, but we are not accessing the Internet through a Proxy.  It advises us to skip that procedure. So when we skip the Proxy settings, and we enter the new Display ID, it reports that the Dispay ID was not found."

it sounds like you may be running a very old version of the installer. I would suggest downloading the newest version from https://help.risevision.com/user/create-a-display, and that way you should not see any information about a proxy as long as there i a direct connection to the internet.

Thanks!

Hi there!

Could you open up a terminal and type 'sudo rm -Rf rvplayer/' without the quotes? This should delete the entire Rise Vision player directory. After that, run the installer again and see if you can enter a display ID.

Thanks!

Thanks for your help.  The problem seems to be with the wired connection on our clients. You can ping the static ip, but there's no web connection. It works if I turn on the wifi with DHCP. I have the IP, mask, and gateway set on the static so I'm not sure what it wants. I'll troubleshoot with our network engineer.
