display is blocked

a couple of my displays are being blocked, Since starting with rise I've had intermittent blank white screen issues. I started off with Lubuntu and the old player software. I've since moved to the chrome player app on ubuntu04.04 32bit using the html5 video widget which ran great for roughly 3 months. About 3 days ago I've been getting white screen problems. To solve the issue I recreated all my playlists back in the regular video player but now I'm getting display blocks. I'm at a loss here, I haven't made any major changes to anything before this happened

Hi Naomi, can you try using the Video item instead of the HTML 5 Video widget?  We are going to be releasing a new Video widget very soon to replace the HTML 5 Video widget.

I've moved back to the html5 widget, I'm still having video problems. I'm running a  720x720 video window with a background image and text on the bottom, in a 720x1280 portrait setup, would this be an issue?

Naomi,

What kind of video problems are you having with the HTML5 video widget? We put out a new version of this two days ago that solved many issues that users were seeing. I would recommend replacing the widget in your current presentations with the new version.

thanks Blake,
Am I right in thinking that we should now use the video item? Video item is currently working but the html 5 video widget is not. Problems are long pauses between videos and intermittent blank white screens that stay on forever until I restart the player app

Naomi,

The new version of the HTML5 Video Widget should address the issues you are seeing.

It ran good for 2 days I logged in this morning and it was frozen, I had to reset the player.

Naomi, you initially said you have a couple of displays.  Are you having the same issue with the presentation on more than one display?  Can you make sure your displays are configured to reboot nightly (configured on the box itself, not using the Scheduled Reboot feature which doesn't work with Chrome App player)?

Hi Alex,
Yes I have a cronjob rebooting every night, this presentation is only running on 1 display. I've moved back to the video item. I have relatively good stability now. Before I was nesting presentations. I'm now using the schedule instead with less crashes. I'm still getting long pauses and flashing between videos though.

Naomi,

Have you disabled transitions between videos?

Naomi,

Just checking in on your presentations. Are you still seeing white screens?
