Running 5 displays, they keep displaying a red x "display blocked" message.  It has happned multiple times throughout the day today.  We have rebooted and restarted the players...which seems to help only for a short time, then the error comes back.

Inside Bodybuilding.com,

Have you already checked out the Help article on blocking?  It lists a couple of things you can check:

https://help.risevision.com/user/display/unblock-a-display
Thanks, yes we found the article yesterday and resolved the problem.

Glad to hear that, thanks for the update.
Hi Alex,

We are still experiencing this issue. However instead of the TV's at our current office we are getting the blocking issue on our TV's we are managing for our UK office. We are only running images that have been uploaded to our Rise Vision Storage right now. Do you know what could be causing this?

Thanks,
Kamile

Inside Bodybuilding,

Going back to the original issue you had with blocking on other displays, what did you do to resolve the issue there?  Are they playing the same content as the UK displays?  Are the images huge and do they have to scale substantially to fit in the placeholder?

Another thing that somebody found could cause blocking is duplicate Rise Player shortcuts that start when the player restarts.  That is in addition to what was in the help file when you first posted the issue so I just thought I'd mention it.
I did the same action for the current blocking issue and the old blocking issues. The images are fairly large as they were built to fit the screen dimensions. We may need to look at reducing the size and applying the scale functionality.

Also what are the duplicate Rise Player shortcuts mentioned?

Inside Bodybuilding.com, what action did you do on the old blocking?  I wasn't quite clear.  If the images are the same size as the placeholder then they don't need to scale, which I believe is better than having a different size that needs to be scaled, but I am not sure if you are talking about an image that is 1920 pixels wide or are talking about 100 images that are 8000 pixels wide.  I was just curious about whether the player/viewer is getting hung up trying to process something and causing the player to restart.  Does your content only consist of images?

Regarding duplicate Player shortcuts, that was in the Windows start folder - the player shortcut was in there twice.
Our images are designed for the 1920 x 1080 dimensions. We occasionally stream videos from a URL (roughly a minute in length) and have seen these freeze the whole screen causing the presentation to not move forward.

We also occasionally point to a URL. Overall most of what we display on the TV's is coming from our paid storage fees and are still images. So not sure why we suddenly were receiving blocking notifications.

Inside Bodybuilding, if you are streaming videos and are seeing them freeze that could cause the player to restart and trigger the blocking.  Depending on what is playing inside the URL you point to, that also could be a problem source to look at.  Can you also make sure that your machines are set up to reboot nightly?
Hey Alex,

We are streaming videos from YouTube channel and also through direct upload in Storage. Is there typically issues when streaming from YouTube URL's? Are there any suggestions to prevent our videos from freezing?

The machines are setup nightly to reboot at 3am.

So I'm not sure I understand this.

I've seen tons of issues in the past with YouTube so I never recommend it.  I always go with WebM videos from Storage.  That being said, Scott's Digital Signage has a YouTube widget in the Store and there is a free trial so you could give it a shot to see if it works better for you.
What is WebM? Is that video file type?

Inside Bodybuilding, Yes, that is correct.  WebM is actually the only type of video we support in the platform now.

I've used the free Miro Video Converter in the past to convert to WebM.  I am sure there are other converters out there though,

When you convert to WebM, you should use the Video item to add it to your presentation.  We also have the newer HTML5 Video widget, but we are working on it currently so I think you should stick with the Video item at the moment.
Okay we will try the WebM. Appreciate all your help with this!
