Digichief Weather Configuration Consistently Fails to Open

The control/configuration panel consistently fails to open within the presentation editor. You have to exit out of the Chrome window, lose your changes, go back in, and try again. Not impressed at this time. Also, the weather source being used is very inaccurate for this location. I would be interested to know the data source. We are South of San Jose, and it looks like they are pulling weather for Watsonville, which is on the coastal side of the mountains. The weather is completely wrong. They should be using San Jose or Hollister.

Hi Buzz, regarding opening the control/configuration panel, would you please clarify what you are referring to?  For instance, do you mean the configuration page for some of the widgets or gadgets?  Or something else?

If it is the configuration for widgets or gadgets, could you please let me know which one(s), and can you also try logging in from rvauser.appspot.com (and not risevision.com) and let me know if that makes a difference for you?

The widget configuration panel opened instantly from rvauser within the placeholder configuration window.

Logging in directly via rvauser will allow the config panel to open, but the content chooser will now not open in editor. Also the digichief widget does not open in windows 8.1 on the Intel Stick. There seems to be an authentication component that is failing. I noticed the first time I ran the preview on my computer I had to allow the widget access to my location. This is not a practical solution for a distributed display network.

Hi Buzz,

So far I haven't had any issues opening the Widget Settings in the Digichief Weather Widget, but Alex states above, are you referring to the Widget Settings, or the Placeholder settings?

Regarding the location, I'm thinking that you are using GeoLocation in the Widget settings, and that it is reporting the incorrect location. My recommendation would be to go into the Settings of the Widget, go the General Settings, and change the Address from GeoLocation to Custom Address. Then just enter the zipcode you want to use, for example 65673.

That will show the weather for Hollister, Missouri in your Presentation.

Let me know how you make out.

Thanks!

Hi Buzz,

I am going to speak to the Developer about getting the authentication issue corrected. In the meantime, you should be able to use http://rva.risevision.com or http://rvauser.appspot.com to configure the Widget.

I have been configuring on Windows and Mac using http://rva.risevision.com, and have not run into any issues.

Thanks!

Just to clarify, I was not using an Intel Stick, but I was running on Windows 8.1. Thanks!

Setting the location to custom and using a zip code worked. The documentation for the widget could use more detail in what the fields are for. Other than that I like the layout. It is clean and simple.

Glad to hear it! I'll pass that info about the help page on the Developer. I like the layout to all the Digichief Widgets as well, they all share the same sleek simple design.
