Difficulty with Weather Widget resizing

I'm updating one of my presentations (http://preview.risevision.com/Viewer.html?type=presentation&id=2c3786d0-214e-434b-a508-a7ae2b47e8b9) to replace the old weather gadget with the new weather widget. (I'm actually using two 'instances' of the weather gadget placeholder in this older presentation.)

The problem is with the new weather widget. Using the same weather information and font sizes from the gadget, the widget will not scale correctly to fit into my presentation as the weather gagdet did previously.

I've tried resizing the placeholder window, but the widget is not scaling well. For example, see this link:
http://preview.risevision.com/Viewer.html?type=presentation&id=bcb8d7a9-e846-4a4b-a7c2-a9b2166039b4

When the weather icons are small, and the temperatures below them are half cut-off, you'd think all you'd have to do is to make the placeholder a little bit 'taller'. But when I do, instead of showing the complete number of the temperature, the weather widget instead makes the weather icons larger, and still cuts off the temperature numbers half-way.

How can I enlarge the placeholder 'box' enough to show the temperatures, but keep the weather icons from expanding so that these temperatures are not cut off?

Thanks,
Robert

Good morning Robert.

I've previewed your presentation and I'm not seeing anything cut off with the weather widget. Were you able to fix this, or is it only appearing normally in preview?

Hello Blake,

No, I haven't been able to fix this. I can see the numbers cut off in the preview as well as displayed on two different signage TVs.

The 'old' presentation isn't the problem though.  It's still using the old gadget, and it works fine.

The problem is in replacing the old weather gadget with the new weather widget, but within the same placeholder dimensions as the older gadget. I wanted to keep the same layout.

As you can see in that second preview link I sent you, when the placeholder is resized, instead of expanding  a little bit to uncover the temperature,  it instead just increases the weather icon sizes, and still cuts off the temperatures:

I'm also including a screenshot from my computer.

Thanks,

Robert,

Have you tried enlarging the placeholder? I just ran a test on the preview you submitted, enlarging the placeholder just slightly allowed for the full widget to be viewed.

That's what I tried at first and I thought would work, as before. But I increased the placeholder by 1 pixel increments, and never got that 'sweet' spot.
I've 'worked around' the issue for now, by both giving a larger portion of the presentation layout to the weather placeholder to accommodate the larger weather icons, and decreasing the tempeature display fonts down a couple of sizes. It doesn't allow  the same amount of layout control as the older gadget, but at least we can display the weather again.

Robert,

Sorry to hear that. I'm going to put this on my list of things to review. Keep in mind that the new widget does allow for totally custom layouts, so if you are proficient in html, you should be able to generate a totally custom layout suitable to your presentation.

Okay ... so I've spent literally 10 hours in the last week trying to get the weather widget placeholder to size correctly. But no matter what height or width I chose for the dimensions of the placeholder, either the temperature number or the weather icons are always cut off. The autosizing function that happens inside the weather widget is seriously messed up.

So after a week of trying and a LOT of wasted time on this, I'm marking the 'new' weather widget as unusable. Not because of the actual weather info, but with the resizing issues, it's very difficult to use the weather widget in a presentation layout with other 'sized' elements.

BUT ... since I still have to build new presentations, can I still use the old deprecated weather gadget? Or will it cease to function at some point soon? I'd really like to include some weather, as it's one of the things that clients mention.

Robert,

I have been able to replicate this issue and I've logged a bug here. Thanks for pointing this out to us.

I'm just glad someone else has seen this. Makes me feel a bit less crazy ;)

I read the bug you logged for this widget. Thanks for doing that.  I don't think the current weather widget is supposed to auto-size the font though, as font size is a separate setting in this version of the weather widget.

I hate to seem like I'm beating a dead horse, so to speak ... I just want to be as detailed as possible so you guys have all the info you need.

Thanks for your help!
