We have a custom URI we are wanting to use in one of our presentations.
we have tested it out with chrome and when clicking on one of our research:// links it launches our application.
We have tried it when viewing a preview and it work and launches the application. However when we click the link in a presentation in the rise player app it does not open the application and the place holder goes grey with the page not available icon.

will custom uri's work with the app?

FIAS, unfortunately I am not aware of us doing any testing with custom URIs that launch an app, so I can't say whether there is a way to make this work.

If custom URI's are not supported in the app is there any way we can launch a windows application from within the rise player?

FIAS IT,

At this time, it's not possible to launch a Windows Application from Rise Player.

I had a thought about our custom URI. like i say the custom URI works in straight chrome but not in the app.
i thought if it is possible to use a link in the rise app to launch a new chrome window the URI would work. so far i have had no luck.
i have tried launching it using javascript and using a <a target=_blank> but still can get it to launch.

also to try and launch the application i have seen in the settings for the rise app there is an allow access to file url so i tried <a href="file://"> but still no good. why is this option in the settings and how can we use it?

FIAS IT,

To my knowledge, we don't, nor we have ever supported launching of local applications through Rise Player. If that changes, we will make a release notes announcement for player. If you have any success in this project, we would love to hear about it!
