Ubuntu RiseDisplay player, cursor and a weird icon are showing on the screen, nothing that I've ever seen on any other display, it doesn't show in their preview, also the presentation settings are set to hide the mouse cursor. I figured that it could have been because when I was there I had to setup the monitors and the cursor could have remained after I removed the keyboard/mouse, but this should have cleared up during the daily reboot......it hasn't. Client is asking and I can't figure out why it is there.

I have no Ubuntu experience at all, but it looks like RV App is in 'windowed' mode, not full screen. It is sort of asking you to plug that keyboard back in again and click that icon to put the App in full screen again.

This is a brand new unit right from the box........supplied by RiseDisplay, why is it not working proper right from the get go.

I don't know what they are doing but I've been running into a lot of issues with RiseDisplays units not being set up correctly from the box.

Actually those units are not configured and sold by Rise Vision. But yes, they have their name attached to it and sell them through their the Rise Vision Store. I also agree that those come lousy pre-configured. We never bough Ubuntu devices from them, but the Windows devices had only basic options pre-set properly and the rest of it was totally neglected. Basically, the way I see it, it is not even worth buying them. Simply get, for example, Intel Stick with Windows or Ubuntu and install RV Player yourself.... save some money along the way. The only thing they take care for you (in Windows10) is remove login requirement, which is super easy to do and takes less then 5 min. I do not want advice people to stop buying these devices from Rise Vision Store, but somebody must do a better job configuring them.

Hey coppertop,

I'd like to get this resolved for you immediately. Could you please email support@risevision.com? I would like to get some details so I can connect in remotely to diagnose the problem.

Thanks,

copptertop,

Apologies here, it looks like we have a defect within the viewer that is allowing the mouse cursor (and icons) to appear over the top of the player. I've logged a bug and I'm going to get some attention on it from our developers today.

In the meantime, you can resolve this yourself with a workaround,

Open a terminal window and type the following:

sudo apt-get install unclutter sudo gedit /etc/default/unclutter

change the following line:
EXTRA_OPTS="-idle 1 -root"
to
EXTRA_OPTS="-idle 2 -root"

nohup unclutter -idle 2 &

Coppertop,

I've taken a closer look at your displays and believe I have resolved this issue.

Can you confirm?
