After installing a copy of WIn10LTSB from scratch on a compute stick (Model: STK1AW32SC) and configuring the rise player to play a schedule the following behavior is exhibeted:
The player launches on boot
Countdown
Grey Screen with loading wheel
BLACK SCREEN
CTRL-SHFT-Q does not exit
Restarting explorer shows no running process for rise vision

Reloading the player and waiting 5-15 minutes will load the presentation just fine, but the delay in cacheing did not exist before installing win10ltsb (it came preloaded with win10home).

I'm curious,

What sort of content are you running, and how strong is the internet connection? From your description, the first thing that comes to mind for me is the files it is trying to show are large and are taking time to download, which could be exacerbated by a slow network.

Nothing crazy, images, text boxes, one of the presentations is a youtube video.
I'm certain its not the content because
A) it works fine before we do the LTSB update
and
B) I've used a USB to ethernet adapter to hardwire it into our network (fiber backed very fast...) and I get the same results

Hi there,

Just checking in here. Can you confirm that you have downloaded the newest installer from https://help.risevision.com/user/create-a-display?

Hi there,

Any chance you can give me a Presentation name so that I can test with that one?

Thanks!

I tried to check up on this feed last week but I couldn't access the forum.

So i'm structured like this:
Parent Company - No displays / Schedules (assigned to this address)
4 Sub Companys - 3 online (South End, Crofton, Maple Bay) 1 waiting to be installed (Chemainus)
It happens on all 3 online sub company's on any of the presentations or schedules.  Regardless of how many presentations I put in the schedule (tested with 1 or my usual roll out of 5)

1 of the Sub's (Crofton) I had to wipe out as it wouldn't load the presentation at all, after deleting the sub company and recreating it it exhibited the same behavior as the other ones (long delay, reload player, and then cached and loaded fine)

It does NOT exhibit the behavior on other hardware.  I've run the player from my PC without issue.

It does NOT tax memory or network or processor during the cache usage of all is next to zero until the player reboots and the presentation starts.

You can test the schedule 24 x 7 or presentation News and Weather... it really happens with any presentation or schedule.

Thanks for letting me know! I will test the Crofton 24/7 Presentation and will let you know if I can recreate the issues that you are seeing!

Hi there,

Sorry for the late reply, but I added my Intel Compute Stick to your Company, and from what I can see here, all looks good! I see the Presentation, the calendar on the left, the scrolling calendar on the right...no crashes, or spinning loading animations at all.

I'll leave this running overnight and let you know how it looks in the morning, but so far all looks good!

Hi there!

I wonder if the issue is something unique to the LTSB version of the OS running on that device, as this morning I am being reminded that "Joe is Gorgeous" in one of the Presentations running, so I would say that everything looking good :)

Volunteer Firefighters, they do have  a sense of humor!
It functions but the issue is with the long cache time.  We have a volume license for LTSB and home reset ALL of my settings with a network update including one that allowed the thing to connect to our wifi network there by bricking my entire deployment.

Summary: LTSB works it just takes way longer to cache initially than home for some reason.

That's new...I can't think of a reason why it would take longer to cache. I wonder if Microsoft could provide any answers.

Doubtful, they'll just kick it back to blaming software.  Guess we'll just live with it.

yeah, good point.

Well, I hate for you to have to put up with that, but if you do ever find a fix, we'd love to hear it!
