We’re excited to announce a significant improvement to the Rise Vision platform, which we’ve been working on for some time and will start delivering to all users over the next two weeks.  The new version introduces a redesigned Common Header, which is essentially a new header area at the top of all pages of the Rise Vision platform.

Unlike the current header areas, which change in function and appearance depending on whether you’re editing presentations, managing storage or browsing the Store, the new Common Header will, as its name implies, look the same in all areas of the platform.

What’s being added

The common header brings unified and streamlined navigation to the entire platform, and features a new App Launcher icon, in the top right area of all pages, that opens up when clicked to reveal more icons for accessing the Editor, the Store, Storage, Displays, Schedules, Support, Community, Documentation and the Developer Hub.

In addition, the controls for managing your company settings, sub-companies and users will now be found in the top right area of the header, accessed by clicking on your username.

And behind the scenes, this upgrade makes the Rise Vision platform fully compliant with OAuth 2.0, the latest authorization standard that lets you gain access to the platform using your Google ID.

What else is coming soon
Over the next 3-6 months, we’ll also start releasing new apps for many of those icons that you’ll be seeing in the new App Launcher.  The upcoming Editor App, Displays App, Presentations App and Schedules App will all gradually replace the current UI of those areas of the platform, as we continue to update the look and feel of the platform to the more consistent and modern style that you can already see in the Storage area.

What’s being removed ... in the short term
The one area of functionality that will be missing temporarily when we introduce the Common Header is the capability of using the platform as a white-label product, rebranding it with your own logo and company name in order to market the platform to your sub-companies as your own service.

With the changes in navigation, functionality and OAuth compliance that the Common Header brings to the platform, many of the fields previously found in the Network area will no longer be available (such as Logo URL, Logo Target URL, Use Double Click Banner, Banner URL, Header Background Color, Help URL/Email, Support URL/Email, Sales URL/Email, News URL, Logout URL and Tutorial URL).  We’re currently working on plans to bring the rebranding capability back to the platform, in a different format, in a future release.

Have your say in how we will restore rebranding in the future
If you’ve been using the rebranding capabilities in our current version of the platform, we understand that this change will be an inconvenience for you, and we’d like to invite you to have a say in how we reshape and restore this capability in the coming months.  Not only will this ensure that your ideas are heard by the development team, but as a way for us to thank you for  your participation in this conversation, you will also be entitled to use the new white labeling functionality – which will return to the platform as a billable service (at a price that has yet to be determined) – at no cost.

If you’re interested in participating in this discussion, please fill out this form by April 30th, 2015. We look forward to hearing from you, and thank you in advance for your interest in helping us improve the Rise Vision platform.

Once the new Common Header is launched, if you have any questions, or you can’t find the location of a particular command in the new navigation structure, please don’t hesitate to consult our updated documentation, or to post your questions or comments in our Community forum. We hope you’ll enjoy the new conveniences that our soon-to-be-launched Common Header brings to your digital signage platform!
